Chapter 15

EVIDENCE

"Wha- where am I?" I mumble sitting up to see Hook beside me asleep. The sun was setting in the distance about to disappear behind the hills. "Eek!" I squeal scurrying away from him in shock.

Hook bolts up with worry then understanding when he sets his eyes on me. "Evi? Luv, hear me out. I'm not going to hurt you."

"Hurt me? You hurt me?! Hahaha! I'm the one that'll hurt you if you don't stay away from me! I lost control for the first time in years because of you! What's worse is I can't even remember what she did or said to you. It's like my memory is gone. That's never happened before." I start to yell then my voice gets quiter every step he takes toward me.

"Evidence, just listen to me. Right down there is a passage to the old dwarf mines underneath the castle. In said mine holds the very person I swore to destroy, your father." He says pointing down at a dark hole in the side of a hill.

"You're going to let me meet him? I thought you wanted to keep me as far away from him as possible." I say confused wanting to run into that cave and never look back.

Hook laughs, breaking me out of my thoughts. "As much as I want to, you have magic and I only have a sword. I can't force you to do anything. But know if you go down there intending to free him from his cage, I won't think twice about hurting either one of you. Unlike Baelfire, you have no connections to my past love." He says in a dark threatening tone causing me to whimper. I just want to have a loving parental figure. Is that really too much to ask?

"I- I just want to see him! I've only seen him once in my life when he was telling my sister to push my mother to Wonderland! I promise not to free him if I don't see any redeeming qualities in him. Please! I just want a family member who loves me and doesn't see me as an accident!" I sob, wiping away my tears as they fall. 

"He abandoned his own son to keep his powers. How can you put faith in a man like that? He'll find a way to use you for his own gain! Please listen to me!" He yells at me. I shake my head and glare at him.

"Says the man that let the same child's mother abandon him without a second thought! Milah was a horrible mother and wife! It's no wonder my father killed her!" I scream and throw him against a tree in pure rage.

Hook groans and slumps in a heap unconscious. I smirk proud of myself and run to the cave excited to finally meet my papa. I do care about Hook but I want my papa more.

After a few minutes of walking through the dark tunnels, I create a fireball in my hand as a torch to see where I am going. A few times I had thought I heard footsteps but I think that was just my fear of Hook following me overriding my senses.

"Who's there?!" I hear a man shout. As I get closer I recognize him as Snow's new husband.

"Prince James? It's me, Evidence. I'm sorry for intruding onto your property but I need to see my sister and I was scared Hook was waiting in the castle grounds." I say in a scared tone hoping to take him off gaurd. He puts his sword away hesitantly and sighed.

"It's Prince David actually. Sorry for scaring you. I can escort you into the palace to see her if you wish." He says in a soothing tone.

I see a door with a few locks on it about 20 feet behind the Prince. That must be the entrance to his cell. All I have to do is get Charming out of my hair. Hmm.

"T-that wo-would be wonderful. I-I'm so scared. H-he chained me up and threatened to kill me if I d-didn't lead him to my Papa's dagger." I fake a whimper and stutter out some of my words for effect. His whole demeanor relaxes and he walks up to me with a sad smile.
