8: ʙᴀʙʏɢɪʀʟꜱ?

"The Bahamas has just gotten 16 new confirmed cases of COVID-19. With this new development, the lockdown will continue until the next month. We advise residents to please stay inside their homes and all essential personal to please follow the guidelines strictly."

"I so hate it when your father's psychic...."

Both siblings grumble their agreement.

They're all in the living room listening to the broadcast and so far it looks like Dad's prediction is coming true. They had enough intuition to tell once the country started getting cases, the numbers would only continue to climb. 

And the government would only continue to stretch lockdowns and restrictions. They're going to be stuck in their homes for so long. 

It's barely been a week and a half and they're stating this. How are cases even start rising if people are supposed to be staying in their homes? There's always a rulebreaker somewhere that fucking it up for everyone else. And now that the lockdown's been extended, people can't work even longer now. 

But worse of all is Lorraine. 

Her work paid her salary last Friday but even then it's only a matter of time before she runs out of funds to support herself and the boys. Althea doesn't want to think what she's had to do to preserve the bills. 

Know what? She'll call them. She's probably had to lessen calls for the sake of cable anyway.

Dialing her phone, Althea puts the device to her ear as Lucas and her mother complain about the news in the background. 

The phone rings once, twice before a familiar Australian answers the phone. 

"Althea?"

"Bang Chan," she greets briefly. "Is Lorraine alright? How's things?"

"Lorraine's cleaning at the moment. Things....could be better honestly. And you can call me Chan or Chris."

"Would you rather Mr. Bang or Bang-ssi?"

She smirks slightly at the sound of him sighing. "Bang Chan it is...should I get Lorraine?"

"Please. Also....are you....alright? You know with....JYP not coming and all." She figured as much once the lockdown happened and it's been on her mind a bit as to what the leader plans to do next. 

"I'm....okay. The kids and I talked about it and...it's not that bad actually. They at least know where we are so they'll come when they can. But....thanks for asking."

She clears her throat and looks off. "Sure..."

"Lorraine!"

"Yes my love-I mean Chan."

Althea snorts and she can hear the man huffing into the receiver. Thought she knows he's amused. "Althea's on the line for you. Also did you really have to play that clip?"

The girl actually wheezes and drops to her knees as her body trembles with laughter. Lorraine grumbles her own set of complaints and Althea covers her mouth so her family doesn't get suspicious.

"Comedic gold at its finest," she snickers. 

"I know we've been pestering you a lot but seriously?" Lorraine snaps. 

"It could've been worse. I could've called Felix and had him listen and tell the other members."

"....Evil." She hears Bang Chan grumble.
