Years Ago

A small, chubby Althea stares shyly from behind her father's leg. Her little hands clutching his pants for dear life. Jermaine smiled apologetically at the Hispanic woman before him who also had a little boy attached to her leg. Though the difference between the children was that the Hispanic boy wasn't very fond of the Bahamians. 

It was the first meeting between Althea and Lucas. Of course their parents hit it off, they were dating for quite some time before they introduced their children, but they wanted to make sure the kids would be fine with everything happening. Naturally Lucas was hostile to Jermaine. Speaking angrily in Spanish as Camila sighed at her son's behavior. Jermaine knew Lucas would be defensive about a possible new father, so he was kind to the boy throughout their courtship. Even when Lucas got one of his blueprints wet. Eventually Lucas grew tired of his tactics not working. So he changed targets from Jermaine...

...to Althea. 

From their first meeting, he made it clear that he didn't like her and that Jermaine would never be good enough for his mother. That his father would come back and they'd be a family again. Althea, rooting for her father's happiness, obviously disagreed but didn't act out. She wanted this to work so she was on her best behavior and Camila loved her from the get-go. Something Lucas hated. 

He was clever. Always a prick whenever their parents weren't around. Althea kept it to herself, but when he started attacking her weight, her confidence took a dive so she addressed her father about it. Of course Jermaine told Camila and the two had a disagreement since they both believed their children to be right. Lucas obviously playing off as if he was innocent. Due to that, there was period of silence between them. To both of them, their children were the most important thing in their lives. And if their significant other couldn't understand that involves trusting them first, then they may need to reevaluate their relationship. 

However, Althea soon realized that her father had already fallen quite deep for the woman. Nearly a month after their split, she found him staring at a photo of him and Camila together. He compared it with an old photo of her mother and threw the latter away. Whenever she asked if he was alright about it, he always responded that he was fine but that clearly wasn't the case. 

So, young Althea decided to bite the bullet and call up Camila in hopes that she'd give her father another chance. She didn't know what to expect but she surely didn't imagine the little devil that caused this to call first. 

"Whatchu doing?" she asked. 

"...Where's Jermaine?" 

"Why you wan talk to Daddy?"

"Cus mama's crying her eyes out and I hate it okay?! Now hurry up and get him back so she can stop! This doesn't change anything by the way! I still don't like you!"

After that....conversation, the children somehow convinced their parents to meet up. Jermaine and Camila apparently only agreed because their kids were persistent but secretly they were hoping that they could mend things. 

Lucas and Althea were on their best behavior that day and Althea was overjoyed to see how quickly their parents mended the rift. Of course they got their kids' perspectives on them being together. Lucas begrudgingly agreed to accept his mother's choice purely for the sake of not seeing her cry. Althea thought things from that point would've gotten better.
