Chapter 2: Fall of Shiganshina

You looked up at the wall in surprise as the 60-meter-tall titan got prepared to break down the wall to your second home.

As the titan's foot went through the gate outside of Shiganshina a piece of rubble came flying over you as a small piece snapped off cutting you in the eye and giving you a scar over your left eye.

Y/n: "AAHHHHH!! That killed!!" You quickly realised that Titans were entering Shiganshina so you started running for the gate on the overside of Shiganshina.

As you were running, you thought about Armin, Eren and Mikasa. Debating if you should go look for them. You quickly snapped out of it and decided to put yourself before anyone else.

As you entered the gate, you quickly sprinted to a boat which you then saw Armin waiting there already, presumably for Eren and Mikasa.

As he saw you he waved and said "Y/n!!" You walked over to him and sat next to him. He realised the cut across your eye and started to tend to it.

Y/n: "How do you know how to do this Armin??" You asked as he started to wipe away the dirt surrounding your eye.

Armin:" I don't read books for nothing." He said as he smiled at you for reassurance. After he did that you guys noticed Eren and Mikasa with dead faces. You thought about going to them but then thought it would be better to let them be.

As the boat was setting off, you heard a distant rumbling noise as an armoured titan broke through the walls.

Y/n thoughts: "fucking titans!!" You thought to yourself. You quickly looked over to see Eren on the rail saying he'll kill every titan he meets.

Y/n thoughts: "Idealistic crap!! However, it's reassuring to see people I know survive."You fell asleep knowing a large journey ahead of you to wall Rose.

As you woke you saw you were with Armin outside a warehouse.

Y/n:" Where are we, Armin." You asked still dazed.

Armin: "Wall Rose."

Before you could say anything you looked behind you to see Eren and Mikasa walking up to you. You turned around to see Armin leave to go get some bread.

Y/n: "How are you guys feeling?"

Eren: "I'm alright got a bit of a headache though."

Y/n: "Well that's better than me!!" You said sarcastically pointing at the big gash above your left eye.

Eren chuckled a bit as Mikasa still had little emotion as always. As Armin came back he gave us all a piece of bread as a soldier scoffed at us 4.

Eren: "What's his problem!!"

Armin: "He's probably just as stressed and worn out as everyone."

Before Armin could finish Eren started walking over to the soldier. Before he got there you just walked off not wanting anything to do with the situation. It didn't help that it was too many people around so you went looking around for a more isolated spot for you to rest.

As you entered a warehouse you saw a group of 3 kids around your age. You saw a tall skinny guy with brown hair. A blonde kid with a sturdy build. Finally, you saw a blonde girl with icy blue eyes and her hair tied up.

You decided to walk over to see if they were alright since they had a cold look on all their faces.

Y/n:" Hey are you guys ok??" You asked in a concerted manner. You didn't know why you did it but you felt it was appropriate.

They looked at you with the same cold glare till the blonde kid said "Yeah we're okay." He said looking down at his lap.

Y/n: "Are you hungry?? I wouldn't mind getting you some food??" They looked at you with a strange expression. You just stared as the brown-haired boy said "Yh... if you don't mind that is?" He seemed mellow and lacked self-confidence.

You then went to get the threesome food and water. As you came back you realised they were talking about something and only heard that they were planning to join the cadets in 3 years.

Y/n: "Hey got you guys your food and some water."

"Thanks." Said the blonde boy.

Y/n: "What're your guys' names??"

The blonde boy then said his name was Reiner. The brown-haired one was called Berthold. Finally, the blonde-haired girl's name was Annie.

Y/n:" heard you guys speaking about joining the military. It's pretty risky if I'm honest with you." They all looked at you with a curious look.

Reiner: "Why that??" You thought about what to say not wanting to tell them anything about yourself.

Y/n:" Well first of all you have the garrison regiment who are responsible for protecting the walls. They are the biggest group but hold the lowest political power out of the regiments. You then have the military police. there the direct enforcement of the king's will. They hold the most power over the people but struggle to hold their own against the other regiments. Then there's the recon corps. The most experienced and also the most dangerous corps. They are directly in contact with the people. However, they're known for having high ideals and putting other people before themselves. Idealistic crap in my opinion." As you said that final line Annie appeared to be fascinated by your statement and your sentiment.

Annie:" Why do you hate the ideals of the scouts??" She asked me a question that seemed to shock Reiner and Berthold who had both been talking on her behalf at this point.

Y/n: "They speak so much about bringing back the land that humanity lost to the Titans and also say that there for the people. But if they were so idealistic and stayed by what their ideals are then my mom wouldn't have been killed by the MPs."

There was a moment of silence between you 4.

Y/n: "Well Whatever path you guys choose when you join the military I hope to see you again." As you begin to walk away a hand touched your shoulder. As you turned around you saw it was Reiner as he asked, "Why don't you join the military? It's not like there are many other choices."

You debated for a short while before saying, "Maybe you're right. It's always good to have more friends am I right." You said as a smile grew on your and their faces.

Reiner: "Sounds good!! I hope to see you around!!"

Y/n: "Oh, by the way, my name is Y/n." You said as you walked out.
