Secure

"Y/n" whispered out a voice to you.

You scrunched your eyes as you choose to ignore it.

"Y/n" it called again, this time lightly nudging you.

You prey your eyes open and you were immediately greeted by a bright face and green eyes.

"Hey, we have to get going" he smiled at you.

"Man, already" you groaned as you began to sit up and stretch your limbs.

You let out a yawn as your body was coming out of it's relaxing zone. But as you reopened them you were greeted with Eren still right in front of your face. He carried a soft smile as he just stared. You began to cock an eyebrow at him.

"What's with that look? Do I have something on my face?" 

"Huh?" he said snapping back from his thoughts.

"I said why are you staring at me like that?"

"Oh"  he pulled back from your face as he began to shine you a toothy smile as he rubbed the nape of his neck.

"I was just thinking how pretty you look when you're relaxed. You should let your guard down more often"

Eren stood up first as he held out his hand to you.

"Thanks" you said as he pulled you up.

You both began walking over to your horse. You got up on your saddle first before you turned to offer your hand to Eren to get on. With a warm smile he took your hand as he sat behind you, his hands wrapping around your waist lightly yet securely.

You peered down at the hands that sat at your lower. The memory of your hands wrapping around Erwin's torso as you slept on his lap played in your head. The way you felt so secure.

That must be how Eren feels, secure in the hands of the traitor.

"All good Y/n?" asked Eren as he placed his chin on your shoulder.

You turned your head sideways to look at him. His eyes always seemed to be alive with life around you. As if they had no other care in the world. They looked completely unguarded, In full trust of you.

"Yeah" you said turning back to face forward.

You pulled the reins of the horse back and started the small trip to Eren's experiment location.

" You know Eren, about what you said earlier... You should never let your guard down.. No matter who it may be with"

He furrowed his eyebrows

"Not even with my friends? Why?"

Your eyes fell dimmed as you continued looking forward, now entering the entrance of the practice forest.

"You just never know where unexpected danger lies." 

"Like if titans were to unexpectedly attack?"

"...yes, that could be a possibility"

"Right" he breathed understanding where you were coming from.

He thought about how he had let his guard down with Armin and his mates the day the colossal titan had breached wall rose. He could reimagine himself being there as he watched all his mates get killed off within seconds. 

It would have never happened if he would have just been cautions and guarded just like you.

But you.

He knew he could let his guard down with you, because he had no doubt in his mind that you'd be quick to save him from whatever it may be. Because he trusted you.

And just like he trusted you, He want you to trust him the same way. He wanted you to at least have your guard down around him. To be able to at least breathe freely around him yet still be secured.

His eyes finally blinked away from his thoughts as he watched a waving hand in front of him.

He realized the horse was no longer moving and you were off the saddle as you waved your hands at him trying to catch his attention from his deep thoughts.

"Did I loose you again?" you mused

"You did" he humored

You let out a small smile as you held out a hand to offer him some help although you were pretty sure he was capable of getting off a horse himself. Grabbing your hand he jumped off the saddle instead of climbing down, causing you to yell out as you felt his weight fall on to you as you hit the ground.

"You idiot " you groaned out

And all you got in response was Eren's laughter as it began to fill the forest. You felt your anger vanish as you heard him and soon you felt the humor come in as you began laughing with him.

Eren rested his head on your chest as he began to calm down with you.

"You know it wouldn't be so bad to have your guard down for one person you fully trust."

"Yeah? and who would that be?" you asked

You felt his fingers dig into your side as he tased you.

"The one who broke my fall of course" he joked

You looked up at the sky as you heard his words.

"So you trust me?" you breathed

"Yeah..." he smiled sheepishly at the ground "With all my heart"

No Eren you shouldn't trust-

Your eyes widen and your blood froze as you realized your truer inner thoughts.

And that's when you realized that you had truly failed just like Reiner said.

"Watch her fuck this up and get attached to all these idiots just like she did with Marco"

You felt your eyes water slightly as your pupils began to shake.

Have I truly become attached to everyone here? Can I not do this?

"And Y/n.." you hear him say

"Yeah Eren" you whispered, trying to disguise the cracking in your voice

"I hope you feel the same"

Eren finally had the courage to raise his head from your chest to look at you. You blinked away your tears as you finally looked at him back. You gave him a small smile as you squeezed his arm playful.

"Sweet as always brat"

You watched as his smile turn into a huge toothy grin. 

"Hey, that's the first time you've complimented me!"

"Is it?"

"Yeah!" he said excitedly

You couldn't help but smile a bit more as his happiness seeped out of him.

Maybe you should compliment the boy more often. Looks like it encourages him.

"Yeah, well.." you shoved him playfully off you as you finally got up " Don't get use to it titan boy"

Eren laughed it off as he stood up.

"C'mon, I'm sure we're running late already" you said  already walking to the tiny cabin

"Going!" he said as he briskly caught up to you.

You opened the door to the cabin, motioning Eren to enter first.

"Just wait till I tell everyone you complimented me first" he said passing by you, smugly.

You shot him a glare as you entered behind him, 

"Tell a soul and I'll cut off your tongue Yeager"
