[24] If The Ministry Faced A Boggart

With Umbridge becoming the High Inquisitor at Hogwarts, whatever that may be, she began to exercise a lot of authority over not only students but also the staff. She came up with Educational Decrees that turned our school into a literal prison.

Not kidding.

Like no groups of more than three students were allowed to interact or else they would get expelled, Fred and George's inventions got found out and thrown away, Harry and George even got a lifetime ban from Quidditch because in the last Quidditch match, Slytherin players were insulting our family and they got into a tussle.

The worst part was that Umbridge was rather biased towards Slytherin as none of them got any punishment while we had to suffer two of our best Quidditch players' loss.

Poor dear Gryffindors...

My job as Head Girl became twice difficult with her around because we had major differences of opinion. She wanted me to follow the decrees and set an example for other students. I wanted nothing more than to thwart her decrees in front of her.

So yeah, I ended up in a lot of trouble due to her. Just like Harry had the sentence I must not tell lies engraved on his hand, I had the sentence I must not break decrees engraved on mine.

How great, as if the whole Azkaban imprinted on my palm situation wasn't enough already...

Our progress in DADA was also going fairly low. We never performed the spells in class which made the subject quite boring. Plus Umbridge ensured that I never got to sit with my friends or the twins and whenever our class was held with Slytherins, she used to pair me up with Warrington.

Though frankly speaking, even Warrington is way more tolerable as compared to Umbridge.

The only highlight we had (other than Quidditch, graduating and never seeing Umbridge again) was Hermione's genius idea of forming a study club for DADA.

There were about 25 members altogether including me and the twins, Cho Chang, Neville, Luna, Ginny and a few others. Hermione had gotten all of us to sign an agreement that we wouldn't give away any information to Umbridge under no circumstances whatsoever. She also used a Protean charm on galleons which she distributed among us as a form of communicating.

And guess who would be teaching the Defence classes in that study club? The Chosen One, of course.

The logic behind selecting Harry as the teacher was sound since he had defied Voldemort more than thrice. Be it sheer luck or actual skills, but the boy was really good at the subject.

Harry hadn't been very willing at first but he later agreed on just teaching the students defensive spells. It would be some progress at least compared to how the actual DADA classes were going.

It got me wondering how proud James would have been of his son had he been alive at the moment. I could clearly imagine him being over the moon that his son Harry was doing something rebellious enough to keep up their Marauding records.

Anyhow, Harry informed us (me, Gin and the twins specifically since Ron and Hermione already knew) that he had talked to Sirius about Umbridge and her increasing authority at Hogwarts. According to Sirius, the Order suspected that the Ministry was intentionally interfering within the school because they were afraid Dumbledore was going to form an army or something to take them down.

Here we have the greatest Dark wizard of all to worry about and still the Ministry was stuck in its own catacombs of idiocy.

Sirius had said that was the reason Umbridge was teaching DADA on theory because the Minister didn't want students to be able to defend themselves properly.

Rubbish, I say.

Anyhow, as we were all discussing it, Ginny came up with another genius idea to light up or fairly dull days. "Why not name our study club the Dumbledore's Army or DA for short? Because that's the Ministry's worst fear, isn't it?"

To be honest, I do agree with her suggestion. It would be splendid to mock these people who have been interfering with us for no reason whatsoever and making our lives absolute hell.

"I second that," I spoke up, "I'm pretty sure if the Ministry collectively faced a boggart, it would be Dumbledore's Army."

The twins laughed, "we vote as well. Downright hilarious."

That being decided, all that was left to do for our DA to be up and running was finding a secure place where we could all meet without Umbridge getting a whiff of it.

And I knew exactly the place for it.

The Room Of Requirement.

"So you're telling us that there's a room in our school which can transform into literally any place and we didn't know about it?" Ron asked.

"Actually we did know about it," Fred spoke up, "we just didn't know the exact term since we had it as an unmarked place on our map."

I remember, the reason that place was unmarked in the Marauder's Map was because James wanted to name it as the Potter Cave while Sirius wanted it to be the Marauder's Lair.  They always had conflicting ideas on what to call that place so they left it blank and use whatever term seemed fit at the moment.

Remus had suggested naming it the Room of Requirement and that in my opinion was the most fitting suggestion (I am pretty sure he had read about it in some book about ancient myths associated with the school). So the Room of Requirement it shall be called hence forth.

Damn, I've been thinking a lot about my time travel incident today, aren't I?

"Kat, we lost you for a whole minute there," George spoke up, bringing me back to reality.

"Oh, sorry, what were you saying?"

"I told you, being a Head Girl would mess up with your head," Fred was feigning concern though the glint in his eyes gave him away, "would you like a trip to Madam Pomfrey?"

I shoved him, "shut up. I do need a trip to Madam Pomfrey though, so that she can give me some potion on trying to dealing with my anger or some day Umbridge is going to suffer at my hands."

"We wish the day comes soon and we'll help you with whatever you're planning," both of them remarked.

Not that I was actually planning something injurious for Umbridge, even though I really really wanted to...

Guess that's the bad part about being a Head Girl. Not only do you have to keep a constant watch over the students but you are yourself under strict surveillance at all times.

So even if I had planned something special for Umbridge, it would be very difficult to pull it off in the current circumstances.
