[32] Sneaked To The High Inquisitor

Harry's interview in the Quibbler created quite a lot of chaos in Hogwarts. I was right in thinking that breakfast would be in quite an uproar as owls kept flying in and out delivering the Quibbler magazine.

Professor Umbridge wasn't yet aware of what the fuss was about but I knew the second she found out that the magazine contained such an article, she would put a ban on it.

On the other hand, people began approaching Harry after reading about You-Know-Who's return and he was getting both positive and negative views. But at least now everyone knew that the Ministry was intentionally ignoring the issue and Lord Voldemort had actually returned. There was the case of the mass breakout of Azkaban prisoners as well that the Ministry was hushing up but now it was clear to all that the Dark Lord would be behind it.

In a sense, people were starting to believe Harry. Davies told me that he believed Harry was telling the truth from the start but didn't openly express it because of all the Ministry mayhem that was going on. Most people from our house were ok Harry's side too except Seamus who was getting a bit paranoid about what the future held if Harry's claim really was true. I guess he will come around to see sense soon.

What mattered most was that the article was sort of proof of the current situation that no one could turn their faces away from.

But it didn't last long because Umbridge found out what all the fuss was about and passed yet another decree. She banned the Quibbler as well as prohibited everyone from even talking about the article or the topic of You-Know-Who's return.

What fun...

She raided all dorms again, confiscating the Quibbler and in fact, she heavily scolded Luna as well just because her father was the editor of the magazine. But her attempts of keeping everyone rooted to what the Ministry told us all didn't work.

Students had started rebelling against the High Inquisitor's stupid set of rules as they now used magic to disguise the Quibbler within their school books. So apparently no magazine was found then after, but people still had the copy disguised as other books and pages.

In the meantime, the meetings for Dumbledore's Army continued and all the members would assemble in the RoR at the times set by Hermione. We used our charmed galleons to communicate the time and at first, things were going smoothly.

We were definitely making much more progress in DADA through Dumbledore's Army than through all the Defense classes taught by Umbridge put together.

But of course, in Umbridge-infected Hogwarts, good things can't last for long.

And with her Inquisitorial Squad on the move for detecting anything and everything they could report to Umbridge, trouble was everywhere around us. We had to make sure that no one aside from the Dumbledore's Army members caught a whiff of our meetings, both the times and the place.

However, during one meeting, Dobby the house elf turned up in the RoR unexpectedly and told us that Umbridge had found out about our meetings. Harry had to call off the meeting immediately because we could hear people outside the RoR trying to break in.

Who else could it be other than the Inquisitorial Squad?

I saw that the younger members were starting to panic as they thought they would definitely get expelled of they got caught. So before our DA broke into chaos from within, somebody had to take charge.

"None of us is going to get expelled," I told them, raising my voice to silence their worrisome mumblings, "I'm sure that the Inquisitorial Squad is out side but we can deal with them for now, we are greater in number and we actually know how to defend ourselves."

The sounds of the people outside trying to break in magnified and it was clear they would tear the gate apart any moment. We had to be prepared for that.

"Ginny, you're excellent at the Bat bogey hex, aren't you?" Hermione spoke up catching my drift, "when they bombard the door, hit them with the hex and try to make it as strong as possible."

Ginny nodded, positioning herself in front with her wand held out, "got it."

"And once the hex has struck, I want all of you to disperse and go back to the common rooms as quickly as possible," I told the rest of them, "understand?"

However while talking to them I noticed that there was one member missing.

"Marietta snitched on us," Hermione mumbled, looking at the list that she had charmed to let her know if someone betrayed the group.

The words Sneak were written in front of Marietta Edgecombe's name.

"But she couldn't have!" Cho Chang tried to defend her friend but there was absolutely no time for arguing right then.

The door to the RoR exploded and we'll, Umbridge was at front with the Inquisitorial Squad behind. Ginny didn't hesitate to use the Bat bogey hex and soon the little entourage that had burst in were covered in the green slimy discharge.

"Run!"

The rest of the members sprung up in action and quickly ran out of the RoR. Me and the twins took off too but we hid close by to see what was going on.

Harry wasn't so lucky as Umbridge caught him after clearing herself of the bogeys.

"Harry Potter, you are coming to the Headmaster's office!" She shrieked, her shrill voice ringing through the corridors.

"We should go help him," Fred spoke up.

"I think we shouldn't," George remarked, "it will cause more havoc."

In that case, I do agree with George. Fred looked as if he had stated something bizarre but I spoke up, "she's taking him to the Headmaster's office. Professor Dumbledore is in school at the moment, he will probably resolve the matter much better than Umbridge would."

Fred rolled his eyes, "and what do you think he will say when he finds out we actually named our group after him?"

He does have a point...

Naming the group Dumbledore's Army was a great idea in hindsight but now it would only put him in more of a tough spot in front of the Ministry.

I really hoped that Harry wouldn't get expelled and Professor Dumbledore would manage to sort things out.

As for Marietta, we will just have to wait until this skirmish died down then figure out why exactly did she snitch about the DA to Umbridge.
