Chapter 7

Ruby's POV

I'm skating on the ice right now. My dad is following me. Trying to stop me. I gotta say, for his 34 years he's still very fit. He's been training me in ice hockey now for six years and now I am the best player in my ice hockey school team. It's totally awesome. They would've never expected that a girl can be the best. Especially the guys and let's face it people: I'm the only girl on the team.

I turn head and I see my dad falling behind. I skate towards the goal and shoot the puck right into it. I turn around and do a victory/happy dance in front of my dad while he skates towards me. He just smiles at me.

Ruby: Oh yeah! Oh yeah! I won! I won! I'm so good! G-O-O-D!

Ross: And from whom do you have this?

Ruby: Well, I guess that was a guy I kinda know. I think I'm kind of related to him, but I don't really like him.

I just show my dad my cheeky grin. He grins back, suddenly he drops his stick and skates to me, his arms first. My reaction isn't fast enough, so my dad has me now in his tight grip. I release a squeal and we fill the ice hockey rink with giggles.

Ross: Who won now?

Dad releases me from our "hug" and does MY victory/happy dance from the beginning.

Ross: I won! I won! I'm so good! G-O-O-D!

Ruby: Dad, you stole my victory/happy dance. Oh that is so ... . So ... .

Ross: Listen princess. You can think of a good adjective in the car. We have to go home now. I think your mom is almost done with diner.

Ruby: Alright. But I'm gonna find the word.

Ross: Of course you will. You're my daughter. You're smart. You got that from me.

Ruby: Really? Because mom always said, I got my musical talent and my ice hockey talent from you, but I got the rest from her, like intelligence, looks etc. etc.

I skate towards the exit, but turn my head one more time and grin at my dad. He just stands there confused. Then he comes after me.

Ross: Oh really? She said that?

Ruby: Yep, and I can't argue with her.

Ross: Pff, please. Have you seen my hair? You definitely got that from me. And also the rest of your features. My whole family says that. From your mother you maybe got your cute and irresistible personality, but the rest. *puts his two pointer fingers towards him with his cheeky grin on his face* ... From me.

Ruby: Dad how old are you?

Ross: Still younger than you think.

I smile at him and he releases a giggle. I go towards him and wrap my arms around his waist, while he wraps his arms around my shoulders and holds me tight.

Ruby: I love you dad. Please don't ever leave me. Not even when I'm married and have kids.

Ross: I love you too and I'm not going to leave you. You're my little princess. You always were and you will always be my little princess, no matter how old you get.

Ruby: Thanks dad.

Ross: And just so you know, I'm gonna make sure, that you're not getting married or having kids till I'm dead.

I release from the hug, but I still have my arms around his waist and look at him confused. He just smiles at me. Then I slap his shoulder playfully.

Ruby: DAD!?

Ross: What!? As a father I have to protect my little angel and make sure that no one's gonna take her away from me.

Ruby: But you don't have to be that overprotective.

Ross: Hello? It's my job as a good father. You're not giving birth to kids until you're over 25.

I still look at him with a playful death glare, he just returns his cheeky smile. Then I remember.

Ruby: You and mom had me when you were 18 and "made me" when you were 17.

His smile suddenly disappears, while mine just grows and grows. He looks at me with wide eyes.

Ross: How do you know?

Ruby: I can do math. *says is like the answer is obvious*

Dad slightly starts to panic. He doesn't know what to say. It's so cute, when I have him under my control.

Ross: But that was something totally different.

Ruby: How?

He doesn't know what to answer. It's so funny.

Ross: ... Are you supposed to ask those questions?

Ruby: Yes because with that I just proved that you're not a good role model for your 16 year old daughter, who you got when you were 18.

Dad squeezes his eyes slightly and keeps silent, while I try to suppress my laughs.

Ross: ... Touché. ... But come on. Let's go home now.

We sprint towards the boys and girls changing room. In 20 minutes we're showered and in fresh clothes and on our way back home.
