Chapter 18

Rocky's POV

We're waiting now for 1 hour and still no signal that Ross is okay. Suddenly Riker, Rebecca, Ruby and Nathan rush into our direction. I stand up and go towards Riker.

Rocky: What took you guys so long?

Riker: I just drove carefully and slowly like you told me. Maybe a little bit too slowly, but we're here now.

Ruby: *with broken voice* How's dad?

Stormie: We don't know yet sweetie. I think he's still in surgery.

That just breaks Ruby more. Ryland goes over to his niece and wraps his arms around her shoulders, while she cries into his chest. I go over to Rebecca, who has a sad and depressed look on her face. I place an arm around her and squeeze her lightly.

Rocky: Hey. How are you doing?

Rebecca: Could be better.

Rocky: You have to think positive. You know Ross. He's a strong person. He'll make it. He'll fight. For you and Ruby.

Rebecca: And also for you guys.

Rocky: Well yeah, but I think mostly because of his own little family.

Rebecca shows a weak smile.

Rebecca: Thanks Rocky, for cheering me up.

Rocky: No problem. That's what I'm for.

I evolve her into my arms and she wraps her arms around my waist. Suddenly a doctor and nurse come into our direction. Rebecca and I release from the hug and we all look at the doctor.

Doctor: Family of Ross Lynch?

Stormie: That's us. How is he?

Doctor: Well. During the surgery he lost a lot of blood. He has multiple bone fractures, major bruises all over his body and because he got rammed with the other car, the pressure caused a lot of brain damage. He's in a coma right now.

The girls gasps, they hold their hands in front of their mouth, while we guys just swallow hard.

Rydel: But he will wake up again, right?

Doctor: That's hard to say. His condition isn't stable and we think he only has a 10% chance of waking up.

Tears start streaming again. We can't stop them.

Ruby: ... Can we see him?

Doctor: ... Sure. Nurse Nancy will show you the way.

The brunette lady named Nancy directs us towards Ross' room.
