Chapter 7

Ruby's POV

I just turned 10 yesterday. It was the most awesome day ever. My parents, grandparents, uncles, aunt and I went to Disneyland and afterwards there was a surprise party. It was absolutely amazing. Right now mom, dad and I are at home. Mom is reading and dad is playing his guitar. I rush towards him and his head jolts up, probably because I scared him. I start to giggle.

Ross: Hey princess.

Princess. I love this nickname from daddy. Since I was little I was his princess and he says I will always be his princess, no matter how old I am.

Ruby: Can you sing something, daddy?

Ross: Sure sweetheart.

Ruby: Okay come on.

Dad puts his guitar down while I drag him over to our piano. We sit down together and I start playing. Aunt Delly taught me how to play piano and now I'm really good at it. Dad also said he's going to teach me how to play guitar, but he's doing it when I'm a little bit older, so I can grab the strings. I start to play "Better Together" from Austin & Ally, the show, where my dad played a main role when he was a teenager. I watched some episodes and I must say, it is the most amazing show ever and it's so funny. Even though it's like 14 years ago, we all still watch it on TV, when the repetitions are on.

Dad immediately realizes which song it is and starts to sing.

Ross: ♪Hey, I will always stay. By you side forever. Cause we're better together. Hey there's no other way. We'll make it through whatever. Cause we're better together. ♪

Suddenly mom comes into our music room. She leans against the grand piano and starts singing. I smile at her while I continue playing the piano.

Rebecca: ♪Like the waves need the sand to crash on. Like the sun needs a world to shine on. You're the bright side of everyday, me without you just isn't the same, it's not the same. ♪

Now we all sing together.

Ross+Rebecca+Ruby:♪Better, we're better. Oh. We're better together. ... Hey I will always stay by your side forever. Cause we're better together. Hey there's no other way will make it through whatever. ♪

I stop playing and smile at my parents. Then we all have a group hug.

Ross: So princess. What do you want to do now?

Ruby: Daddy, can you please teach me how to play ice hockey?

Ross: Sure. Go upstairs and grab your skates. I'll call the rest of the family if they want to come too and play okay?

Ruby: Alright.

After that I sprint with giggles upstairs.

Rebecca's POV

Ross and I watch Ruby as she rushes upstairs. Then Ross comes to my side and places his arm around me and holds me tight.

Rebecca: She's such a Daddy's Girl.

Ross: Of course she is. I mean, I'm an awesome dad.

Rebecca: I'm not arguing with that. But I gotta say, I'm a little jealous.

Ross: Aww baby, you don't have to. I mean, obviously I'm awesome, but you're also the best mother ever.

Rebecca: Aw, stop. You're making me blush.

Ross: That was my intension.

Ross turns me towards him and places his hands on my waist. He places his forehead against mine and we look into each other's eyes. God, his hazel eyes are so beautiful.

Ross: I love you Rebecca.

Rebecca: I love you Ross.

That's when our lips finally touch. I wrap my arms around his neck and pull us closer together. Ross smiles during the kiss because of my actions. My arms release slowly from his neck and travel down onto his toned chest, while his right hand travels up around my neck and his left hand stays on my waist. We slowly release from the kiss because unfortunately we're out of breath.

Rebecca: You should probably go and call your family.

Ross: Okay. Will you wear my hockey jersey, while the guys, Ruby and I play?

Rebecca: Sure. Now let's go. You have to make a call. I think Ruby is gonna be down here any minute.

And after I said that Ruby rushes downstairs in her ice hockey gear, which Ross got her for her birthday. She looks so adorable. What can I say? She's a Daddy's Girl. I smile at her and she returns the smile. Then Ross comes back.

Ross: Alright. They will come. We're gonna meet at the rink. Rydel is gonna come to, so you won't be too bored, baby.

Rebecca: Alright, thanks baby.

Ruby is already at the door, jumping up and down because of her excitement.

Ruby: What are we waiting for? Hurry up!

We smile at her and get all in the car, then we're off to the ice hockey rink.
