Chapter 14

Ruby's POV

You remember my date with Nathan three weeks ago? Well, that was basically the best date in my entire life. Sure it was my first one, but also the best. Not just because Nathan was the cutest and most handsome gentleman ever, also because I got my first kiss at the end of this date. I literally felt like Cinderella. Anyway, he's my boyfriend now. The best I could ever ask for and my family already met him. And when I say my family, I mean my whole family, my parents, aunt, uncles and grandparents. I gotta say I was nervous, but it turned out they all like him and are very happy for us. Of course my uncles Riker, Ell, Rocky and Ryland had to explain the whole thing again what's gonna happen if Nathan doesn't treat me right and I'm pretty sure he was scared, while my uncles talked to him. And he had no other choice than to agree that he's going to treat me like a princess, otherwise my uncles and father would have probably hurt him. But everything worked out fine.

Right now, we're all at home and with all I mean, mom, grandma, grandpa, my uncles and my aunt Delly. Nathan is also here because its family game night and I include him now into my family. All are here except for my dad. I wonder where he is. Suddenly the phone starts ringing.

Ruby: I'll get it.

I go into the kitchen and answer the phone.

Ruby: Hello?

Ross: Hey princess.

Ruby: Dad, where are you? Its family night and we miss you all because without you it isn't family night.

Ross: I'm so sorry sweetheart, but I had to work longer. My boss was nagging me. I'm on my way now, but I'm pretty sure, that I'm gonna take a little longer. The traffic is crazy.

Ruby: Alright. At least you're on your way home.

Ross: I'm sorry princess that I can't be there with you guys.

Ruby: It's okay dad. It's not your fault. But please be careful okay? I heard on the news that a big storm is coming in the evening.

Ross: I will sweetheart don't worry.

Ruby: I really hope so. I can't bare losing you.

Ross: I'll always be with you. I love you princess.

Ruby: I love you too daddy.

Ross: Please tell your mom an "I love you" and say hello to the rest of the family from me.

Ruby: I will. Bye dad. See you later.

Ross: Bye.

We both hang up. Then I go back into the living room, where everyone is looking at me.

Rebecca: Who was it?

Ruby: Dad. He says he's on his way now.

Rocky: NOW! Why so late?

Ruby: His boss was nagging him. And he said that he's probably gonna need some time because the traffic is crazy.

Ratliff: Does he know, there is a huge storm coming this evening?

Ruby: Yeah I told him. He said he would be careful. By the way, I'm supposed to tell you guys a hello from him and mom an "I love you".

Mom starts blushing, while looking down. It's so cute. Everybody notices, but says nothing. We just smile.

Mark: Well, let's hope for the best. Now, who wants to play Monopoly?

All: ME!
