Chapter 13

Ross' POV

Ross: WOW, someone's happy.

Ruby: You can say that loud. Nathan just asked me if I wanted to go to the new Fro-Yo place this Saturday.

Ross: You mean like a date?

Rebecca: Congrats sweetie. I'm really happy for you. I know he's your crush.

Ruby: Thanks mom. Dad, can I please go with him? You can trust him and most importantly you can trust me. We're just going for some frozen yogurt. Nothing to worry about. And if you want to you can also meet him before we go. Please daddy?

Oh no she's playing the "daddy" card. That actually always gets me soft. I hesitate for a minute thinking about if I can really trust a strange boy from school with my daughter. I look at Rebecca and she just sends me the "Trust her. She knows what she does." glare. Then I turn again towards Ruby. She's looking at me with hope in her eyes. I just can't say no to those hazel eyes. They're basically mine. A smile forms on my face and Ruby's eyes just go wider and wider.

Ross: Of course you can go with him. I trust you kids. Put if he does anything to you, with what you're not comfortable with or if he's forcing you to things you don't wanna do, he's going to meet me and your uncles. You already know that I'm protective of you, but Riker, Ratliff, Rocky and Ryland are also very protective of you and they're not gonna be very happy if they find out that their ONLY niece is not feeling comfortable. Are we having a deal?

I pull out my hand in front of her. She doesn't hesitates and shakes it with her cheeky grin.

Ruby: Deal!

Then I pull her into a hug. She wraps her arms around my neck and I wrap my arms around her small waist.

Ruby: I love you daddy.

Ross: I love you too princess.

Then she goes over to Rebecca and gives her a hug to, she hugs back of course.

Ruby: And I love you too mom.

Rebecca: I love you too sweetie.

Then she's jumping up into her room again. Rebecca comes next to me and lays her arms on my shoulder.

Rebecca: Well done daddy. You allowed her to go, but still showed her that you care about her. You're an awesome father.

Ross: Well, I can't argue with that.

Rebecca: Well, diner is ready. Ruby, diner's ready! Please come downstairs!

Ruby: I'll be there in 5.

Ross: What did you cook?

Rebecca: You'll see.

She opens the oven and the smell already makes my mouth corners go up.

Ross: YES! MAC 'N' CHEESE! You're the best!

Rebecca: I can't argue with that.

Rebecca mocks me with my own sentence and I just smile. She places the hot bowl of noodles and cheese onto the table, then she gets three plates, forks, knives and spoons and three fresh washed glasses. While Rebecca gets the orange juice out of the fridge Ruby comes downstairs and sits on one of the barstools. She smiles at the food because, just like Rocky, she LOVES Mac 'N' Cheese. We all sit down and start eating.
