Chapter 20

Rebecca's POV

More tears start pouring out of my eyes. I go with my hand over Ross' forehead and blond, soft, fluffy hair. I give him one last kiss on the pack of his hand. Then I slowly place his hand on the side of his body. I stand up and go over to the door, but before I leave, I turn around on more time.

Rebecca: ... I love you Ross. Please never forget that. ... Wait in heaven for me.

I blow him a kiss, then I turn around towards the door and leave. ...

... Letting Ross behind me. ...

... Forever. ...

...

When I'm in the hallway again, everybody is staring at me, but I don't care. I slowly slide down the wall. I bring my knees up to my torso and burry my face into them, while my arms find their ways around my legs. Riker crouches down to my height and places his hands onto my knees. I look up with red and puffy eyes.

Riker: *with broken voice* ... Is ... is he ... ?

I just nod. I don't wanna talk right now. Riker sits next to me against the plain wall and pulls me onto his lap, while I cry into his chest. I can feel that his tears are dropping down onto my hair. The whole family is crying now and Ruby already had a little break down in Nathan's arms. After 10 minutes Nurse Nancy comes towards us again. When she sees us all huddled together crying, her eyes wide and she rushes into Ross' room. After 2 minutes she comes out again with a sad expression on her face. We all look at her.

Nancy: I'm really sorry for your loss.

She is about to leave, when she looks into mine and Riker's direction. She sighs and turns around while she puts her hands into her pockets. Suddenly she turns around again and goes towards us. She sits down next to me and Riker. I look at her and watch her as she pulls something out of her pocket. She pulls out a silver necklace with a trinket, then hands it to me. I hold open my hand and she drops it into my hand. I observe it more precisely till I realize what kind of necklace it is. Ross' key necklace. I look at Nancy with a confused look. Where did she get that?

Nancy: We had to take it off of him for surgery and I thought you maybe want it. It meant a lot to him.

Rebecca: *broken voice* How do you know?

Nancy: I've seen pictures of him on the internet. He wore it every time. Even on Austin & Ally.

Rebecca: ... Thank you.

Nancy: No problem. I know what it feels like to miss someone and loose someone you really love. You can believe me when I'm saying, it's hard at the beginning, but it'll get better. One day you'll get over it. But of course you will never forget him. He will always be in your heart because I know he's just too special to ever be forgotten.

Rebecca: I know.

Nancy: I wish you good luck and of course also the rest of the family.

Rebecca: Thank you.

Nancy smiles at me, she pats my shoulder, then she stands up and leaves.

Mark: I think we should also head home. It's getting late. Rebecca, Ruby, do you want to sleep over at ours or are you gonna be alright?

Rebecca: I think we'll be alright.

Mark: Alright then let's go.

We all stand up and go towards the exit.
