Sorry this is late! I mean to update Sunday, but then I forgot, and then Monday rolled around, and I forgot again...I really have no good excuse... :(
Better late than never?
Enjoy!
Retribution (noun): punishment inflicted on someone as vengeance for a wrong or criminal act.
As per usual with Henry and I, just when everything begins to go perfectly, fate intercedes and crushes all.
It starts with a loud crash outside the door. I’m alone in the room, Henry must have gotten up earlier. I walk to the door, to see what dropped and how important it was, and then I hear the second loud noise and it’s metal against metal and a plethora of footsteps on the deck, too many to be just the men from this ship.
Now I’m trying to yank open the door only to feel that is has been sealed shut. I’m locked in.
I try shoving the door once again but it won’t open.
I hear yelling and I know that there is some sort of attack going on. I stay quiet and listen. The fighting goes on and all I hear I shouts, screams, and the sound of whatever kind of battle is going on, for what seems like an eternity.
Finally someone speaks, “Now I said not to hurt them. We don’t care about the crew.” The voice is unfamiliar but it has an easily recognizable tone of authority. “Give me your captain and all will be well for you,” The voice says, and I realize this is not an attack on the ship. It’s an attack on Henry. I need to get out of this room.
“You don’t know who our captain is?” Bradley asks.
“No,” The voice responds. “I do, I also know that you wouldn’t willingly give him up. And I really don’t want any…unnecessary blood on my hands…”
“You can’t have him.” Kieran says.
“Then I just have to kill you.” The voice replies, hardly bothered.
I hear someone outside the door, and noises being made as something rubs against it. I know the door is about to be opened, but I know that I am not about to be liberated.
“I’ll go with you.” Henry says suddenly, and the person messing with the door stops.
“Really?” The voice asks. I’ve decided that the owner of the voice is a man around Henry’s age.
“Henry, no,” Jamison says.
“We’re not going to let you do that,” Bradley says, and the rest of the crew resonates with affirmation.
“Yes, just leave them all alone.” Henry says and I know that a look must have been given to the crew because none of them vocalize any more objections..
“Fine,” The man says, “We’ll leave the crew. But not the girl in that room.” I curse softly and look around for something with which to arm myself.
“No.” Henry says, “The deal was me and no one else.”
“Ah,” The man says, “But without her, how could be properly hurt you?”
I grab a heavy stone paper weight and decide that maybe I can throw it hard enough to do some damage. I know that I’m going to be taken captive, but I’m at least going to put up a fight. Make them wish they never got the door open.
The door swings open and I throw the stone, hitting the door opener in the head, and he falls to the ground. I run past him, wondering if I can get to another weapon so I can at least wreak havoc on one more person. However I am grabbed and restrained. Henry is looking at me, and the look on his face is one of panic.
