Back to practice

Jack went out for a drive along the coast, it's almost time to leave for practice and he's not back yet so I call him.

"Hey you've reached Jack Harris, if I don't get back to you it probably means I don't really like you, but feel free to leave a message." beep
"Hey Jack it's Me, in going to drive Emma and Jake to practice because I don't know if you'll be back in time. I'll meet you at the gym, and if your late I'll tell coach that your dead. See you soon, I love you." As I say that last part I blush I can't believe Jack and I can say that now!!! I'm wearing my blue and white nike shorts and Jacks coed elite shirt from last year, and as soon as everyone is in the car we leave.

When we get to the practice gym the parking lot is full so we park around the corner. And the walk to the gym is boring because at the moment I'm the third wheel...
"Umm excuse me she's mine." I say to Jake laughing as I squeeze in between them, he smiles back and replies. and my phone starts buzzing like crazy! But I ignore it.
"Not anymore." with a smirk on his face as he attempts to reach over me and hug Emma, all the while Emma's laughing
"You'll have to get past me if you want her, sorry." i tell Jake
"Ok fine." He laughs before lifting me over one shoulder and missing Emma
"Eww Jake that's my sister." He laughs in response but doesn't put me down until we get to the gym, and that's when I realize I must have dropped my phone when he picked me up because I haven't felt any vibrating since then. So I sprint back looking under me before stepping, I really do not want to step on my phone and that's when I see it, my phone! In Tammy's hands?
"Emily Jacks been in an accident, he's in the ER and he's in really bad shape!" She says almost crying
"No, no, no jack no this cannot be happening!!! Go tell Jack and Emma and tell the coach why we're going to be late!" I say but by this point I'm crying so much I didn't think she could hear me but she handed me my phone and headed towards the gym. I start sprinting towards my car but my vision is blurry and I trip and fall but I just get up without checking if I was hurt. I get to my car and start it up and race towards the entrance honking at every car in my way and that's when I realize that Jake and Emma are heading towards me with Tammy in tow but I'm to hurried to mind.
"Emily I'm driving you are going to get us in an accident!!!" Jake is crying and tammy is trying to console him but it's not working so I tell Tammy to sit in the front so Jake and I can just cry together, I don't know if he's going to make it and that worries me.

The second we get near the hospital I grab Jake and sprint to the doors because the parking lot is even busier than the gyms.
"I'm looking for jack Harris, I got a call saying he was in the ER and I need to see him!" I tell the receptionist
"What is your relation to this patient?" She asks us
"I'm his twin brother, this is his fiancé and this is his friend." Jake tells her pointing to each of us as he does and I'm glad he lied if he hadn't I wouldn't have been allowed in to see him.
"He's in sugary but your welcome to stay in his room until he come out. it's room E117 just around the corner to your r..." I didn't let her finish her sentence I pulled Jake away and ran there but I trip again and when I look down I see blood everywhere but I don't care I need to see him. And that's when we get there and his rooms empty, I fall to my knees and start balling my eyes out, this CANNOT be happening.
That's when Jake kneels and whispers in my ear and I start crying even harder because two days ago Jack was doing that and now he's gone "Emily calm down his in sugary. he should be here soon." I stand up and plant myself on the couch and I don't plan on getting up until I see jack. Jake comes over and lets me lay my head on his shoulder, and Tammy sits in a chair on the other side of the room. And just then Emma comes in and hugs me and Jake, proceeding to sit besides me, and that's where we stay without talking, me crying for three hours until the doctor comes to the room and I cry when I see Jack isn't with him.
"Whoa, whoa little lady calm down Jack is Perfectly fine he's just in recovery. That's a pretty deep scrap there, I need to check it out immediately." The doctor insists
"Not until I see Jack!" I say between labored breaths
"Ok follow me" he says and Jake tries to lifts me up but I slap him away
"Emily the sooner we get there the sooner you get to see him." and I let him pick me up and we all run towards Jack.

Once we get near his room I see his brown hair and recognize him immediately. I squirm out of Jakes arms and run to Jack and he's still asleep and I ask the doctor what happened. I'm still crying but less and now I'm starting to feel the pain in my leg.
"He was in an accident while driving along the coast, the other driver was on a motorcycle and was driving under the influence of alcohol. Unfortunately he passed away while being transferred to the hospital in an ambulance. Jack was driving perfectly fine and was in fact trying to call an Emily at the moment of his accident. We know this and we called her because she tried to call Jack shortly after his accident and at this pint we had obtained mr. Harris's phone,but it was not Emily's fault because the other driver crossed into his lane and crashed into Jack. So he was rushed to the emergency room and into surgery. As you can see he's alright and will wake up in about an hour or two." the doctor calmly informed us, and I start crying. So it was my fault he was in this accident, and that's when I realize he would have left a message and at the same time I left a message that said he died, well not exactly but basically. I can't believe this they were trying to call me the whole time and I wasn't bothered by it.
"Sweetie why are you crying? " The nurse asks me as she leads me to the chair right beside Jacks bed and let's me sit
"She's Emily..." Jake informs her and I guess she understands because she starts to comfort me immediately
"It was not your fault he crashed after he hung up the phone about a minute or two after in fact and I'm almost positive that your the only thing that kept him going in surgery because when he came in he was and excuse my use of words but he was messed up, but he was conscious and he kept saying your name and to tell you he loves you so much and he will be back to kiss you as soon as he can and in surgery we almost lost him so many times but he pushed through! All of his doctors are very impressed with his recovery and think he will be fine and I know he's a because we found many pictures of you and him in his car. And the docs say that with luck and support he'll be practicing in two months or so! And that's simply miraculous so you should be proud of him!"
"Thank you for everything but I just want to be alone with him for a bit please." while she was talking everyone else left for the cafeteria.
"Yes of course but I need to check your knee, the cut is very deep and there appears to be something in it." I just nod and she puts her gloves on
Now that I'm calm I can feel the extent of my knee injury and as soon as she puts her fingers on it I feel so much pain, so I reach for Jacks hand and squeeze as she stabs my leg with a needle for the pain and gives me some pain relievers but then she pulls out whatever is in my knee and I let out a yell and I feel something tighten around my hand and I realize it's Jacks hand.
"Nurse he just squeezed my hand!"
"Oh that's normal, he felt you in pain and tried his best to make you feel better." As I was distracted she finished pulling out whatever was in my knee and puts it in a bag before throwing it out and then comes back to clean it, that takes her quite a while and when she finishes she proceeds to stitching it up as I fall asleep on Jacks pillow.
