As the next couple of days came and went, the thought of marrying Levi Ackerman did somewhat seem to settle. The only hard part was I had still yet to see him since I had heard about this whole ordeal.
I had received a letter in the mail from my mother, who was beyond ecstatic that her only child was getting married. What she seemingly didn't know was that this was arranged. I guess Levi left that detail out for good measure. But nonetheless, my parents were getting a nice escort from my hometown of Orvud to the Capital, and they'd be here soon.
I had many people looking for me, wondering what colored flowers I'd like or what food they should serve. I gave them my input, but in the back of my mind and with everything going wrong in the world I couldn't help but feel bad. The situation with the titans only grew to become a bigger problem with each passing day, and my mind struggled to accept that this was good timing. I couldn't even begin to imagine how Levi felt.
Speaking of the devil.
"(Y/n)." Said a familiar voice behind me. I was at the Survey Corp office, and if there was one placed I'd be lucky to run into Levi, it'd be here.
"Captain Levi." I said, saluting him.
"Now now, you don't have to do that anymore." He said. Quickly I dropped my hand to my side, and hoped he'd say something first.
But he didn't.
I stood there, staring at him while the butterflies in my stomach did somersaults.
Why am I so flustered?! This is just my former captain! I never was like this around him when I was on his squad.
"How...are you, Captain?" I asked him, my voice shaking a bit. It was a dumb question, but I figured not many people checked up on him very much.
"I'm fine." He said, as he looked down. I knew he wasn't "fine".
"I'm sorry I wasn't there, during the 57th expedition." I said, as tears filled my eyes."I can't believe they're all gone."
I was part of Levi's Special Operations Squad. We were unstoppable. And then I got cocky, and got caught by a titan. That's when Levi saved me, and I sustained my injury. I had recovered and hoped to be part of that mission, to capture the Female titan, but my injury wasn't cleared, and I wasn't able to go.
Everyone died, except Levi. This all happened just a month ago.
"Don't apologize." He said. "I would've lost you too." I looked up at him, his face still as expressionless as ever, but I knew he cared about each and everyone of us, and that meant a lot coming from him. I can't say I grieved the death of my squad mate's properly, and I knew Levi and I shared that in common.
Yet the guilt in my heart continued to grow. Even though Oruo's cockiness drove me nuts, I missed hearing him boast about his kill count, and Petra- she was like my sister. I knew that if she were alive today, she'd be the one that'd marry Levi. She was forward with her devotion and love for him, while I kept mine buried within my heart.
But, I knew if anyone else was in my position currently, I'd be extremely jealous-even if it were Petra, yet I couldn't help but feel culpable. It was luck that had me standing here in front of him today, nothing more, nothing less.
"Changing the subject- Erwin just gave me the keys to...our house." He said, as if it was difficult for him to swallow. "Would you like to go see it with me?" I shoved my sad thoughts back down where they would no longer bug me, and simply nodded. I followed behind Levi, as he led me into a carriage and off we went.
We sat across from each other. Levi didn't say anything, he didn't even look at me. I looked at him though. I guess seeing him as my future husband did change my view on him. Yes, he was a total ass with a hateful sense of humor, and intimidating would be an understatement, but his face definitely helped the matter.
I wasn't sure if he was popular with the ladies, but I had always found him attractive. Maybe some women would be deterred by his height, but that was never a turn off for me.
"We're here." Levi said, as I felt my cheeks get hot. It was a quick carriage ride, and I just sat there and thought about how hot Levi was the whole time. Oops.
The house was nice, perfect for just the two of us. I'm glad Erwin wasn't expecting us to have children anytime soon.
As Levi walked around, he ran his finger along the top of the furnace, only to be met with dust. I rolled my eyes, because I knew exactly what has coming next.
"Filthy." He muttered.
"Don't worry, Captain. I'll keep this place clean for you." I said.
"You know you can just call me Levi." Our eyes met for a moment, but quickly he turned around and continued looking through the house.
I guess he's right...I thought as I followed behind him once more.
To my surprise, the house was a bit smaller than I had originally thought, especially looking at it from outside, I expected a two bedroom house, but it only seemed to have one.
I guess we'll be sharing a bed then... I thought to myself. My heart now beating a little faster. The more intimate side of marriage had yet crossed my mind until now. Although, Levi didn't seem like the type that would consummate a marriage, so I figured I wouldn't have to worry about that for a while.
"Alright, well can't say I'm overwhelmed, but this will do." Levi said as we walked out of the house. We both made our way back into the carriage that awaited our return and headed back to the Survey Corp office.
The rest of my day went like always, helping Hange with her experiments was the bane of my existence. I hoped that maybe marrying Levi would help me get back into a squad that would fight Titans like we used to in the Special Operations squad.
"How are you doing? With the whole wedding situation of course?" Hange asked when we crossed paths. "I saw you talking to Levi earlier."
"I'm fine. I have gotten used to the idea." I expressed.
"See! I told you!" They said.
"Well, I still haven't married him yet so hold your horses." I said giggling.
Hange didn't say much else, and that's when I remembered something I had been meaning to ask them.
"Hey, Captain Hange?"
They nodded, giving me the go ahead to speak.
"Are Levi and I... going to have to...well...kiss?"
Hange's cheeks went pink.
"This is a formal wedding, so probably...Gotta give Sina a show..." They said, scratching the back of their head.
"Oh my god..." I said as I got all flustered.
"Who knows, Levi would probably like that." Hange said somewhat sarcastically. They were only trying to joke, but they weren't the one that would actually be doing all this.
I play punched Hange in their shoulder, to get them to shut up, and didn't bring up the conversation any longer.
Only one more week, and I'd be up on an alter, marrying Levi Ackerman.
