As the sun set behind walls, I slowly walked back to the house Levi and I shared. I wondered what could I even say to him to make amends. I didn't want to feel so bad that my emotions showed through the facade I kept up being a Scout, so I knew I had to do something.
Actually I do love you, Levi!...
How stupid does that sound?... I thought to myself as I walked past the pub I had frequently been stoping at lately.
I froze in my tracks, my brain telling me to keep walking, but my heart craving the sweet surrender wine had to offer.
Fuck it...
I swiveled around on my heels, and headed into the dimly lit bar.
"Howdy, (y/l/n)! Have a good day?" The older bartender asked with a soft smile as he dried off a wine glass for me.
"Just the same..." I said, forcing a fake grin.
"Hey I know something that'll cheer you up!" He said to me, turning to face the wine bottles stacked behind him.
I raised an eyebrow, knowing it would take Levi hiding somewhere back there with forgiveness to make me feel better.
"Rare Marleyan wine! Apparently it's only available for the higher up MPs, but they accidentally delivered some here! Want a glass?"
I considered his offer, since I was a sucker for red wine, but alas I was a creature of habit, and I craved what I had become used to.
"No thanks, sir. But I appreciate you thinking of me!"
"Suit yourself! The usual?" He asked me.
I simply nodded, as he poured me a tall glass and left the wine bottle right next to it, knowing I could finish it off in no time.
But I sat there, not drinking anything, fiddling with my fingers still wondering what I should say to Levi. I tried to think about him before our fight, and before Erwin died. We hadn't shared a ton of sweet moments up until then, but the ones we did made me feel a way I had never felt before.
I didn't think love was possible for me, and I'm sure Levi felt the same, but he picked me for him, and I fell. It wasn't chance, it was just a coincidence, it was fate. And I was tampering with that fate for being stubborn and scared.
Levi had seen me at my best and my worst, and even though we aren't really talking, he's still there with me. He hasn't left me.
So without another thought, I left money on the bar for the wine I didn't even drink, and swiftly walked out of the pub, determined to make things right with Levi.
As I walked to our house quickly, my brain tried to fill my head with stupid thoughts.
What if he's not home?... He's always home.
What if he doesn't want to talk to me?... Levi's a man, not a child.
What if he doesn't love you back...? "I...actually think he does..."
I opened the door once I got to the house, not letting my stupid thoughts stop me any longer. As I walked in, I saw Levi sitting in the same chair he always did, reading a book with the cat curled up by his feet.
"Levi." I said, a bit wimpier than I wanted it to sound.
His eyes met mine but his head didn't turn. Quickly they went back to his book.
"Yes?" He said.
I went to sit in front of him, his eyes ignoring my movements until I made myself comfortable. He once again didn't move his head, just until he saw tears falling down my cheeks.
