As the next week rolled by, once again, I was a fill in for Hange. The breach in Wall Maria had to be plugged so that Eren Yaeger could find the cellar where his father left him the answers about the titans that we so desperatley needed.

Things were slightly different, and slightly better with Queen Historia under rule, as the people within the walls seemed more content. The population was one less thing us Scouts had to worry about.

Like most times, I didn't know when Levi would get back. He had mentioned that the expedition wouldn't take long, but things were bound to wrong. So, just like always I drowned my loneliness with a bottle of Merlot.

With Levi gone again, I have no one. I've learned to turn my frustration into care when Levi is around. Not being an active Scout sucks, but it's better when he's around.

But I plan to make time for an appointment with Commander Erwin, once this is all said and done. I would like to continue to make a difference in this world. I wasn't cut out to simply be a housewife. Maybe in another world...But the world we're in now wants me to follow what I was called to do.

Levi has to know that. He saw me out there. Sure I made a stupid mistake, but don't we all sometimes.

Then my mind goes to a dark place. How would Levi feel if he couldn't save me? I know it would kill me to lose him, but would it be the same for him?

Maybe it's time I tell him I love him, before it's too late...

I stopped writing since my handwriting became illegible. I laid down and tried to get some sleep, but thoughts and ideas of how I'd finally tell Levi I was falling in love raced through my head. I figured I wouldn't get any sort of response back, but that didn't matter to me anymore.

I just wanted him to know how I truly felt.

That next morning I woke up early and hungover, just like I always did, so to say that I was used to it was an understatement. I got ready to head to the offices and began my morning, chugging coffee so that my headache would go away.

Black tea normally did the trick, but it reminded me too much of Levi while he was gone.

Around midday, is when Hange came into their office. I was sitting at their desk, taking notes on our recent discoveries when they walked in.

"Captain Han..." I said, trailing off. Their eye was patched up as they wobbled into the office. It was just Hange, no one else accompanied them. Quickly I walked over to my Captain and helped them into a nearby seat.

I could tell something was wrong, and quickly my heart sank into the pit of my stomach.

"Levi went straight to your house. You may go see him." Hange said, their voice as monotone as ever.

That's not very Hange-like...

"Is everything okay, Captain?" I asked, with fear in my voice.

"You may want to sit down for this..."

Hange told me everything.

How almost everyone had died, including Commander Erwin...

Tears filled my eyes at the thought of Erwin being dead. Just last week I had seen him, his stoic yet calming presence always filled up the room. He was irreplaceable.

"So...what now?" I asked, wiping the tears from my cheeks.

"Well, I've been promoted to Commander, even though I'm not cut out for it."
