Soon as I waved mum off to meet Isabelle I saw Jackson’s car roll into the driveway. I sighed with relief and wiped my face with my hands. He parked his Ferrari in one swerve and rushed out to bear hug me.

“It’s been a long time, my friend,” he laughed and patted my back. I suppressed a smile and let him look around. We’d started packing, only a few things but we had a lot of things to move. It was separated into my belongings that would go with me to Jackson’s place and Mum’s things she’d take to Isabelle’s new house.

“It’s sad to see this, y’know.” He blew out a breath and looked up at the Mansion. It’s true. It was sad because I’d lived here over a decade and I didn’t believe for a second my dad wouldn’t have given me the house. But now’s not the time for that. “Thanks for letting me stay.” I grin at him and point to my stuff at the side even though there’s more stuff to pack.

With a loud sigh Jackson hobbled over to the boxes and then to my car. “I’m happy you’re staying. It gets lonely in the Penthouse, and it’ll just be like when we were kids,” he chuckles and I do too at the memory, “Oh the good old times.”

“Yeah, but now I’m married and I have two kids, things change.” I shrug and dump my things into the trunk.

“At least your mom and Belle will be just a couple of streets away from here. They’re going to that house of hers. Man, I bet it huge.” Jackson exclaims.

“Yeah, and dusty. That house hasn’t been stepped in for years.” I smile at myself.

I bounced on the balls of my feet with Franklin in my arms. Caroline was busy cooing at Emma and Ruby just came to see the house.

“It’s big,” Ruby says observantly. “I’m going home.” She turns on her heels and walks down the stone steps whilst Greta fumbles with the keys.

“Wait, why?” I call after her.

“I just came back from vacation, I wanna unpack. D’uh.” She taps Gareth’s arm and jerks her head towards the car. She must be asking him for a lift because I can’t hear them.

Gareth nods and then looks at me. I smile my approval and turn to the door.
