Nathan Blake
Jackson and I couldn’t go back into the café like nothing happened so we called Gareth. He appeared as quickly as he could and thankfully had a speaker attached to him to pick up the conversation. Jackson and I sat in the car, waiting and watching Gareth slide into the booth next to the two men.
“I’ve arrived here from London and he won’t even let me into his house.” Complained Wade in a heavy cockney accent and the suited man opposite ran his hand down his face.
“I know,” the speaker cracked with his voice. “He’s just busy; in fact he’s got everyone working over time now that he owns Blake Co-operations. I’m lucky to have any time off.”
“Well Seth, you better tell him to pay up soon or else,” Wade warned and the suited man – Seth, got a funny amused look in his eye. “Was that a thread? To Alan no less but a threat it was. What on earth could you do?” Seth spat viciously that the speaker screeched.
“You know Alan could have you killed so less of the threats and he’ll pay when he can. So is this all you wanted to meet up for? Just threaten me or what?” Seth questioned and I looked up to see Wade look uncomfortable.
“I got a call off of my friend back in London. He saw a couple of guys leave my building and you know, it’s only me living there. It’s been empty for years apart from me.” Wade whispered and our heads shot up. Jackson looked panic stricken and I felt sick. “He went back to my apartment and said nothing looked touched. But he could smell them in the air.”
“Smell them?” Seth asked with a scoff.
“I mean their scent. I don’t exactly own Armani Cologne. I figured they’re up to something and it might involve you or Alan.”
Gareth shifted and the next line was muffled. He settled down and I caught the end of the speech. “…close to her. Don’t you worry, you’ll get your money and I’ll sort this crap out.” Seth said and got up from his seat.
Wade left without another word and something made me want to follow him but Seth was still in the café paying for his drink.
Gareth grabbed his to-go coffee and left the café with Seth who didn’t spare him a glance. Thankfully Gareth knew better and walked to his own car rather than ours and we sat, watching Seth’s car drive off.
I stumbled out of the car and jogged over to Gareth. “Thanks Gar, what did he say when you moved and blocked the speaker?” I asked urgently but Gareth seemed relax.
