“So you guys made out – sorry – kissed and the he just left because he had to meet Jackson?” Caroline asks and I nod sadly and hug a pillow. I seem pathetic which I feel and then I realise I’m sitting on a baby rattle. I get up and throw it on the floor. I don’t care if I’m acting childish; I fall onto the couch and curl up into a ball.

“S’up?” Ruby strolls in but scans the room and sighs when she’s satisfied. It was brave she came back twice in one day since she hates hanging around when my mom’s at home. However, she lands on the couch next to me and looks perplexed.

“Are you okay?” She asks me and her mouth sets in a straight line.

“Are you searching the room for Belle’s Mom?” Caroline wiggles her eyebrows at Ruby and smiles gleefully at her. I groan and bury my face into my pillow before they can fight. Ruby asks again and Caroline explains and then they laugh. Of course, now they laugh together.

“I’m guessing you miss Nathan and how you were together?” Ruby asks and helps me up into a sitting position. I sniff glumly and nod. I hear cries and it gets louder. I can distinguish that its Emma crying since Franklin fell asleep in a flash. It was half three but the day was dull and dark and rain splattered onto the window. It was a light drizzle for now put it’ll be pouring down soon.

“I can’t get Emma to stop crying. I’ve tried everything but I know she wants you.” My mom walks in and I notice Ruby tense up and fiddle with her long, thin fingers. I take Emma from her when Valerie comes in with some baby food. I thank her and get to feed the messy baby once she’s calmed down.

Mom ignores Ruby and concentrates on me feeding Emma who gurgles and spurts out her food every time. I smile but quickly get annoyed when she throws up. I groan and wipe baby sick off me, making me, Caroline and Ruby gag. Mom and Valerie are immune to baby sick.

“You messy baby,” I coo once I rubbed off the throw up.

“I’m leaving now, the baby sick smell is making me feel sick and light headed,” Ruby says and jumps up to leave. She pushes past Greta to the front door when she stops in her tracks and wolf whistles loudly.

“Well, hello. That is one nice car.” she grins and walks down. I quickly hand Emma to Valerie and walk out with Ruby and with others in tow. I see a silver corvette stingray just outside the driveway and Ruby’s car, which is usually parked in our driveway, is in front of the corvette with the bumper handing off and the paint scratched off.

Her grin turns into disbelief and then a vicious scowl as her gaze moves from the brilliant corvette and onto hers. Sadly, I know what she’s capable of and that corvette driver will be lucky enough to leave here tonight alive.
