Chapter 3

"I am falling for this person I met on Grindr and I can't stop thinking about him," Yan Fei told Pin Jun as he sipped on his coffee.

Pin Jun was pouring his cup of lemon black tea, "So tell me about him."

"His name is Hai Qing."

"Huh? Hai Qing? Show me his photo," Pin Jun was curious if it is the same person.

Yan Fei showed him the photo.

Pin Jun took a moment and had mixed emotions. It wasn't like he was jealous because Hai Qing was also talking to another guy. But he felt something. He didn't know how to explain it. The emotion showed on his face though.

"What happened? Is he your ex or something?" Yan Fei asked, judging from Pin Jun's facial expression.

"No, no. But I know him. We are friends. I think I am just surprised that you both are close to me and you both also happen to know each other," Pin Jun's attempt at explaining to himself what he might be feeling, but failing at it.

Yan Fei was not convinced by this reasoning.

"In fact he and I are meeting tomorrow for the first time," he filled the silence in the air.

"Oh it's not a date, is it?" Yan Fei enquired. He would hate it if his best friend was also interested in the same person.

"No, no, we are just friends. Don't worry about it. Oh wait, why don't you come with me tomorrow? We are meeting tomorrow. We can surprise him," Pin Jun offered. This was him being passive aggressive. If Hai Qing didn't tell him about Yan Fei, then he would present Yan Fei in front of Hai Qing and show that he knows about it.

Yan Fei thought a little about it and said, "I am tempted but I think you two should meet up first and then next time you can give him a surprise by bringing me along."

Yan Fei was building his bridge. His friend being close to the person he likes made it so much easier. Fate was favoring him, he thought. He didn't need to look for Hai Qing in the neighbourhood anymore. Pin Jun would build the bridge for him.

Yan Fei added, "Don't mention me tomorrow though. It would be a nice surprise when he sees me with you the next time."

Pin Jun was not at all happy. He considered Hai Qing so close and shared everything with him. Why didn't Hai Qing tell him about Yan Fei? Did Hai Qing not consider him close enough to share everything?

Hai Qing was getting the hint by the amount of messages sent to him that Yan Fei might be interested in him. He could not see Yan Fei as anything more than friends though because his heart was beating for someone else.

He texted Pin Jun, "We will have our first awkward encounter tomorrow then."

"Why awkward?" Pin Jun replied, on his way home now, after meeting Yan Fei.

"This is our first meetup. What if we are unable to break the ice in person and then sit there in awkward silence for hours?"

"I don't think that's going to happen. You have seen me half naked on some of my fart fetish videos already, remember?"

"True that LOL, nothing can seem awkward now and also why do you send them to me," Hai Qing laughed, and sent the message.

"To scar you for life!" Pin Jun laughed.

Hai Qing sent the eye-roll emoticon.

Pin Jun was back home, and was now sharpening his sword. This was a way for him to deal with his emotions. He transferred all his emotions into sharpening the sword.

He felt a sense of possessiveness over Hai Qing. Hai Qing was someone with whom his mentality matched. They were both quirky and weird. Same wavelength. How could Hai Qing be close to his best friend and not tell him about it. Wasn't he close enough to Hai Qing then? These thoughts bothered him again and again.

Pin Jun was weird in a lot of ways. He used a steel scale, made the design and hired someone to convert the scale into a sword. Now he displays it in his room. So it is a sword that has centimetres and inches measurement in it.

He sharpens the sword whenever he feels disturbed or agitated. He is doing it now.

And guess who finds all his weirdness amusing and interesting?
Yes, you are right. *Eye-roll*
