Chapter 7

Whenever Pin Jun was trying to talk to Hai Qing, Yan Fei was speaking in the middle, giving his input. A bit too much for Pin Jun's liking.

Hai Qing was clear now that Yan Fei definitely liked him romantically. The way he was reacting gave it away. His constant interruption to get attention made it so evident.

Yan Fei even gave one of his dumplings to Hai Qing, "Have this, it's really good."
Hai Qing didn't say no to it. He had the dumpling.

Pin Jun didn't like this either. Why was Yan Fei being so lovey-dovey. That's so cringe, he thought.

Yan Fei cared. Hai Qing understood this too and maybe he would have appreciated Yan Fei and his efforts more if they had met under different circumstances.
Hai Qing did not appreciate Yan Fei being the third wheel between him and Pin Jun.

Hai Qing wanted to spend time with Pin Jun only. Yan Fei ruined it for him. So of course Yan Fei was not making the best impression here.

At the end of the meal, Yan Fei took the bill and paid the whole amount, "My treat."

Hai Qing didn't even complain. He was already too preoccupied in his thoughts to worry about splitting the bill.

Pin Jun did not say anything either. He let Yan Fei have this moment. The guy was trying a lot after all, he thought. But he now knew that all this effort would be futile. Hai Qing's expressions gave it away.

He had seen Hai Qing on their first meet-up. This was completely different to that. He was clearly upset about Yan Fei being here. That is the only reason. There couldn't be anything else Hai Qing could be upset about.

So it was now clear to Pin Jun that he was more important to Hai Qing than Yan Fei. He was satisfied with that. He felt triumphant. But he would also have to talk to Hai Qing about it and apologize.

Yan Fei excused himself right then, "I'll be back from the washroom. Don't leave me behind, Hai Qing."

"Don't leave me behind? Eww Romeo, shut up!" Pin Jun thought.

After Yan Fei went to the washroom, Hai Qing and Pin Jun were sitting there. This was the moment to talk, Pin Jun thought. Yan Fei wouldn't be here for the next few minutes.

"I noticed you are upset. What is it? Tell me," Pin Jun asked.

"You don't know? I wanted this to be OUR date. Why would you bring someone else?" Hai Qing said, almost raising his voice in frustration and annoyance.

Pin Jun was taken aback by the words 'our date'.
"We are dating? We are not dating, Hai Qing. We became very close friends in the past few months. I feel the connection we have but it's a deep friendship for me. Nothing more than that. We are friends, very good friends, but we are not dates," Pin Jun put his point clearly.

"Oh, I see, we are good friends," Hai Qing's heart sank. So he was daydreaming all this time. It was one-sided. Pin Jun didn't like him. It was just friendship for Pin Jun. This love was one-sided.

He could feel his eyes getting wet. He could not cry here. He needed to go somewhere alone.

He excused himself and went to the washroom to hide his tears.

Pin Jun sat there silently, alone and sad. He didn't want to hurt Hai Qing but what can he do. He could not feel love...for anyone. He didn't have those feelings in him.
