16. a teddy bear

Author's POV

I guess you could
say Jay has got
a job...
Ok, he does have one.
I mean, he's always
had a job.

He works at a small
store in a shopping
mall nearby.
Not anything too
amazing.

Ni-Ki isn't really
looking for a job
at the moment.
He knows he should be,
but it's alright for now.

At the moment,
Jay was walking back
to his apartment building.
He passed by a store
that was filled with
cute stuffed animals.

He went inside
because, why not?
Jay could get
one for Ni-Ki and give
him one the next
time he gets to see
the younger.

Jay wandered through
the store -
one shelf filled with
cute miniature doggies,
another with foxes and
baby elephants.

That's when he came
across one table that
had tiny animal figures,
and a few of these small
boxes that have a
secret dessert inside.

Jay then saw a mini
knitted teddy bear,
sitting upright on a white,
wooden ledge beside
other different toys.

He picked it up.
And he ended up
walking to the cash
register, paying for it.

Jay walked home
holding the teddy
in his right arm.

When he got back home,
he was invited in by Sunoo.
"Oh, thanks Sunoo,"
Jay thanked, stepping
inside.
"You're welcome."

Sunoo spotted the
small bear in the
older's arms.
"What's that?"
Sunoo pointed.

"Oh, this?
This is just...
...a teddy."
"For who?"
"No one special."

The older walked further
into the apartment,
and Sunoo rushingly
trailed after him.
"It's for Ni-Ki,
isn't it?"
Sunoo guessed.

Jay, who was now
standing in the kitchen,
placed his things
on the counter.

"Jay, it's
for Ni-Ki, right?"
Jongseong faced
Sunoo and slowly
nodded his head.
"I knew it!
It's very cute."
"Yeah, I hope he'll
like it."
"Don't worry, he
definitely will."

"What's the time?"
asked Jay.
"Uhh....I think it's,
like, five something."
"Really? Already?"
"Well, you took
your time walking back."

"True, I guess.
What do you want
for dinner?"
Sunoo pursed his lips,
going to the cupboard
with Jay.

"We could heat up
that bossam left
over from the other
night. We could order
some food. Or
we could make a stew,
I feel like stew,"
Sunoo suggested.

"Wait, lemme ask
the others."
Jay walked away for
a moment, going
to ask everyone else
what they wanted.

In the meantime,
Sunoo stared down at
a jar of choc-chip bickies,
licking his lips at
the sight of them.

"Ok, so I think we
might make a kimchi
stew and some
bossam as well,"
Jay said, returning
back to Sunoo.
