Two Months Later

"Listen Drizzy, don't take this the wrong way. I appreciate you for all that you been doing for me ma but I'm just startin' ta think you doin' all this extra because you ain't trynna give me that booth at ya shop." Darren confronted me over our lunch break.
"Excuse me?"
I was a bit taken back by his choice of words.
"No disrespect. It's just that," he readjusted himself in his seat. "I came to you months ago asking you for a bed or a booth and it seems like you been givin' me everything but that!" He snapped.
I cleared my throat before speaking.
"Darren. Ion know if you noticed or not but you gettin' a lil tight. And if I were you," I readjusted myself in my seat. "I wouldn't."
He frowned.
"Is that supposed ta be a threat?"
I chuckled.
"Oh not at all. I assume since you came to me seekin some promo, you did ya research. Which means you should already know how me and mah people get down. So next time you wanna boot up on me cause you think ya balls dropped, I suggest you recognize who you talkin' to."
I politely took a sip of my beverage waiting for his rebuttal.
Not a word.
"Well. Now that we got our egos out the way, I highly recommend us gettin' back ta business." I broke the silence. "The reason you still don't have a bed or a booth in mah shop is because that's mah name on the line. When "yo clientele" pull up ta "mah shop" lookin fa "yo service" that means I'm vouchin' fa you. That means they only trust you because you in business wit' me. Cause everybody knows, anything or anybody connected ta me, comin' correct."
"So Whatchu sayin? You not givin' me the booth cause mah work ain't good enough fa you?"
"If that's whatchu wanna think then hey," I shrugged. "Be mah guest. But this ain't really about me Darren. It's about you."
"Whatchu mean?"
"You keep talkin' about how bad you want mah booth. But not once have you pitched ta me ya own booth."
He starred around the restaurant.
"You gettin' tight wit' me cause you ain't got Whatchu want yet. But I told you from day one, ain't no hand outs over here. I told you nothin' in this life worth havin' is comin' easy. You came ta me with a dream. You came ta me waitin' on somebody ta give you a chance. But it just don't work that way Darren!"
"You know what, you prolly right. Maybe this just ain't gon work out. Ion know what I was thinkin'." He started to leave.
"Sit yo stupid ass down." I order.
He folded his eyebrows, but he did as he was told.
