There was supposed to be another event to the sister school exchange event. Nobody was feeling like it. Not even Gojo who was usually care free. That day a special grade died and one was born, though the other was born dead.
They stood outside the building, Shoko was smoking in Gojo's face and he was about to complain when Shoko spoke up, not before puffing a ring of smock into the teacher's face.
"There was nothing I could do...I felt like I could have brought her back, however it was like she wanted to let go." she sighed and rubbed her temples, she was not good at this.
Gojo waved the smoke away and opened his mouth then closed it again.
"Don't blame yourself, it happens, it's part of the job. I only wish she could have stayed around a little longer." Shoko stomped on her used cigarette and walked away, leaving Gojo to his thoughts.
He clenched his jaw and his fists, he was the strongest and yet couldn't do as much as saving one girl.
This was his curse: the strongest who couldn't save anybody he cared about.
When he was about to get up and walk away, he heard shouting coming from inside the building. He ran immediately.
A few minutes before- Shinzo's room
The trio stood inside the awfully quiet room, the loud yellow clothes hanging in her dresser, didn't fit the mood at all. Nor did the happy Polaroids hanged in her room, all sunshine and happiness.
Bands and movie posters hanged on the wall and DVDs scattered all over the desk along with a pack of snacks left open near the laptop.
Itadori noted that she'd been watching the film that Junpei liked so much.
They were all hanging in the room and not talking, a mutual silence hang among them. The news that Shoko's reverse cursed technique didn't work was fresh and they still had to process it.
Weirdly Sukuna had been quiet the whole time. In the forest he was screaming his head off and now nothing, not a sound.
Nobara's bottom lip quivered while she looked at something indistinct in the floor.
Fushiguro rested his weight on a nearby wall, an expression of regret plastered all over is face, if he had been stronger nothing like this would have happened.
"Leave us alone." a deep voice broke the silence and everyone was pulled out of their thoughts.
Itadori's face was completely covered in tattoos, meaning that the boy let Sukuna take control. In any other situation they would have freaked, but this felt incredibly normal.
Megumi and Nobara left the room, not without glaring a bit, but they left nonetheless.
"I know you're there. Don't play dead on me." Sukuna quietly spoke, with a kindness foreign to him.
He put his hand on the girl's forehead then right where her non-beating heart was. It was a tender moment really, until he plunged his hand through her chest and reached her heart.
The curse squeezed it, once, twice then pumped his cursed energy straight into it, with a concentration never seen on him.
It was a controlled flow, not too violent like a river, it was like the gentle ticking of rain. After a drop and another, she would come back even she didn't want to.
Even if he had to yank her from the bastard's cold hands he would have done it. Even more so, if he got to do a wrong to that asshole. He would have seen it as a double victory.
While he was dosing meticulously his cursed energy, that brown haired girl and Fushiguro decided to come back in.
"I don't know what you got going he-" Nobara started brash and stopped while she saw where his hand was.
Fushiguro immediately summoned his demon dog, he would not do the same mistake twice.
She might be already dead, but god knows what the hell he was doing to her.
"Listen-" he tried to reply calmly, he had to keep calm and to this shit. He would not get his temper get the best of him.
He would kill them later.
"No, I know you and hearts, move your hand away and let Itadori back." Fushiguro spoke up with a chilly tone.
Oh god they interrupted him, he hated it. He would slice them into fine human sushi soon.
"Let me-" keep calm, he closed his eyes and sighed.
"Move away from her. Now." great the idiot in white was here.
"LISTEN!" he thundered angrily, his temper did get the best of him since he realised he pumped a more then a drop into her heart, it was more like a tsunami.
The heart bulged and moved like it was about to pop up and. Sukuna realised he wasn't breathing because of the anticipation.
Then Shinzo gasped awake, with a quickly healing hole in her chest
Everyone opened their eyes wide and hurried towards the now alive woman.
"You all gotta stop fake dying on me." Nobara was the first to throw her arms around her and squeezing. Itadori would have done the same, but he was currently in the back sit.
Too bad Sukuna was no Jesus, even if he liked to think of himself like a God, he brought her back, but couldn't heal all her broken bones and bruises.
The beeping sound of the machine linked to her heart started again.
"Glad you're back." Gojo let out a sigh of relief and left to bring Shoko in. To do a check up. Did the king of curses just save a life?
Shinzo couldn't speak very well at the moment, she had a rugged voice and all she managed to do was pat Nobara's back. She raised her gaze and spotted Fushigiro near Nobara, as if he wanted to join the hug, but was too shy to.
She gestured towards the boy and he shyly joined the hug.
The woman then raised her gaze and saw Sukuna watching them from afar. He gestured a three with his hand, bragging about how many times he already saved her life.
Shinzo rolled her eyes and mouthed a thank you. Even if Sukuna could feel there was something else behind that thank you, she adverted her eyes while saying it.
He quietly left and let Itadori take control, he would talk to her after she got all bandaged up.
The boy immediately jumped in the hug and everyone made sure it was in fact Itadori.
Shinzo's bone were crushed and she was hurting, but she could endure this hug since it was so warm. They're family.
