Watching the day pass by from his domain felt like time was still and at the same time rushing forward, the light of the setting sun shone through his vessel eyes and the king allowed his domain to be tinted orange. He couldn't really feel the hot rays of Sun on his skin, but lulled by the fake rays he drifted away to sleep as he laid on the floor of his own prison.
"Ryōmen wake up!" before he could react he was hit by a pillow to his head and immediately raged awake.
Once he opened his eyes he was hit with the same orange sky and rays of Sun, only this time those rays felt real on his skin and it was dawn instead of sunset. He registered the sound of the cicadas from outside and the typical smell of the tatami floor.
His carbon copy was there in front of him, looking at him expectantly and it was so real he couldn't believe it.
"You always lazy around, come on we gotta bring the water to the royal chambers." his twin nudged him one more time and walked towards the exit to put on his ragged zori sandals.
"Yūichi...?" he blinked once, twice. What was he doing here?
Was this all a dream? But this feels so real, he wanted it to be real, it had been so long.
His brother looked at him annoyed and went back to him to swat his head.
"What the hell?! What was that for?!" Sukuna was immediately brought back from his musings and recoiled.
"You're out of it today, well you usually are, but today you're exceptionally dumb." he got up once again before his brother could get his hands on him.
Ryōmen scrambled up and still a bit dumbfounded followed his twin outside their poor excuse of a room. He followed him silently into the woods, towards the well. He couldn't stop looking around, the pampas growing everywhere, big trees and azalea flowers. The typical smell of a summer in Japan, like he remembered.
But most of all he couldn't stop inspecting his brother, was this some wicked prank and he was hallucinating and this carbon copy would turn out to be the brat?
Well not that there were too many differences between them. He sighed.
He continued scrutinising the boy's every movement as they made their way to the well. Once they arrived and he got a peek of his reflex into the mirror, this felt even more real.
His face was much younger, around 17 years old, he did not have his markings nor the other set of eyes, nor were they red. They were a warm shade of brown. Because he wanted to take a better look he leaned forward and almost fell into the well.
Yūichi's hand gripped his collar and yanked him back before he could fall in.
"Are you sure your name is not Yuuji?" he blurted out before his twin could scold him, he needed to be sure this wasn't some hallucination.
Yūichi put down the wooden bucket of water and looked at him as if he hit his head, in fact he proceeded to ask just that.
"Did you hit your head Nii-san? Yesterday's Matsuri celebrations did a trick on you." he looked at him weirded out and then dismissed the whole thing as a hangover.
Matsuri? Was this the Matsuri where he ended up in a fight with a prick from the Gojo clan? He would sure love to end up in a fight with the current Gojo. If there even was a current Gojo, what if this was reality and the whole King of Curses ordeal was a dream?
