  Maeve's POV

I pulled up to the house and turned off my bike.  I walked in the door and handed the dogs the toys I had gotten them at the store.  They happily took them and trotted off to play with them.  Sam came in from smoking and laughed when he saw the dogs with their new toys.

"Hey, want to go out tonight?" He asked, I froze and turned to face him,

"Really?" I asked surprised

"Yes really," he laughed

"Uh, sure." I said as I felt my heart flutter.   "What time are we leaving?"

"About an hour, sound good?" I quietly nodded as I went back to my room and shut the door, resting my back against it as I perceived what just happened.  I felt a smile creep across my face, wondering if maybe he had started to feel the same things I thought I did.  I then realized I only had an hour to get ready.  After I showered I did my hair and makeup.  I then started to dig through my drawers, trying to find something to wear.  I wanted to go with something simple. I decided on a black v neck, bodycon dress.  I paired it with a pair of black heeled booties.  I decided on a red lip, just to add a pop of color.  I took a deep breath as I admired myself in the mirror.  I walked out into the kitchen and sat down, waiting for Sam to come out of his room.  When he finally did I saw him before he saw me.  He was dressed more casual than I was expecting, but I didn't mind.  He wore dark wash jeans and a patterned button down.

"You ready?" he asked as he continued to stare at his phone screen,

"Yeah, car or bike." I said jokingly, he looked to laugh doing a double take once his eyes landed on me.  He then cleared his throat as he continued walking towards the door,

"I actually called an uber because I thought we would both probably drink."

"Ok, sounds good." I smiled.  I wasn't sure if he was nervous or what, but he was barely even looking at me.  I just went with it.  We got in the car and headed to the bar, it was quiet until I spoke.

"Are you nervous or something?" I finally asked.

"About what?" He asked

"This?" I replied

"Going out?" He laughed, "Why would I be nervous."  I shrugged and looked out the window, confused at this point.   We pulled up to the bar and walked to the door.  He held the door for me as I walked in, and then I saw them.  His brothers and Danny.  This wasn't a date at all.   I sighed as I faked a smile, walking towards them as they waved me over.  He had invited me out to drink with his brother and friends. Thats all he saw me as, a friend.  I hugged everyone as I found a spot at the bar next to Jake. They all started talking and I ordered a drink, and another, and another.  The night went on and I looked over to see Sam, equally as drunk as me, talking to some girl who was basically in his lap.  I felt tears start to form in my eyes. Why was I jealous of someone who wasn't even mine, even interested.  I waved the bartender and ordered a shot.  I then turned, scanning the bar, looking for the first man I saw that reminded me nothing of Sam.  I went over and started chatting with some guy wearing a biker vest.  I started chatting him up, but truly I had no idea what we were talking about.  I just kept glancing at Sam, averting my eyes when he'd glance back at me.

"So, you wanna get out of here?"

"Sorry what?" I said turning to the guy in front of me, I had my back against a wall, him hovering over me.

"Come on, lets get out of here." He grabbed my hand and started to try and pull me, I jerked my hand away.

"I don't think so." I said plainly
