There is a big Promised You Heaven spoiler in this chapter. I will eventually catch up on that story I've just been annoyed with it lately. So stop here if you don't want spoilers <3
Sam's POV
After spending most of my morning thinking about how I was handling things with Maeve, I really considered who she was. She was independent her whole life, so Danny was right, babying her was not the way to go. I knew today was the day she was starting physical therapy so I thought she could use a pick me up before she did that. I walked into the hospital with breakfast as well as an 'overnight duffle'.
"Good morning beautiful," I said as I walked in, a smile spreading across her face when she saw me.
"Hey, how was your night?" She asked as I sat on the bed and leaned forward to give her a quick kiss.
"It was good, and I brought you a surprise," I said as I unzipped my duffle
"Jack!" She squealed as he poked his little head out, he crawled over and started licking her face,
"I know it's only 2 more days till you can go home, but Jack insisted on seeing you" I said as I grinned at her giggles. We sat and ate as Jack slept in her lap. Without warning Maeve's nurse entered the room and Maeve quickly pulled her blanket over Jack. The nurse had clearly seen and froze with her hands on her hips,
"Now, I'm going to pretend like I didn't see that, but physical therapy will be here soon and they won't be as nice." She said as did her routine check of Maeve's vitals, we both nodded. After saying bye to Jack Maeve insisted that I stay away while she does PT. I had asked her why and she would never give me a clear reason. I wasn't sure if it was because she didn't want me to see her potentially fail, or if she was self-conscious about her body. I had told her I'd really love to stay and help but she refused. I eventually honored her wishes and left. Before leaving the hospital I asked where the physical therapy department was. I made my way over and asked them for a list of things I could get for the house/change at the house to make things easier and safer for Maeve. They talked to me for a while, giving me a list of things to buy and talking things over with me. They encouraged me to stay for the therapy but I told them she didn't want me to. I took the list and headed to the hardware store. I recruited Danny to help me do some renovations. Some of the medical stuff I had to order and was hoping it would get delivered before Maeve got home. The two days of therapy flew by and before I knew it, it was time for Maeve to come home. We drove down the road and I had my hand placed on her leg as she looked out of the window. We turned the corner on our street and she looked towards the house,
Maeve's POV
"Sam..." I said as I saw cars parked in the driveway, from the looks of it Jake, Sloan, and Dannys.
"I may or may not have planned a small coming home party for you, but we don't have to go inside, we can just leave if you want, or I can tell everyone to leave." He said, "But the twins will be there, and Josh and Rhiannon are supposed to bring their kids over too."
"Well now I have to go, I miss the twins like crazy, and you know I've been dying to meet Josh's little one."
"Little ones" He paused looking at my confused face, "As in more than one."
"Wait how many?" I asked surprised
"You'll see" He laughed. He pulled into the driveway and walked around to my side to hand me my crutches. He helped me to my feet and we started making our way to the front door. I glanced over to the garage looking for my bike but I didn't see it. Now wasn't the time, I'd ask him about it later. We opened the door and Jake, Sloan, and Danny all shouted "Welcome home Maeve!" I smiled and waved at everyone. I suddenly heard small human footsteps quickly approaching, I saw River running towards me from the living room and braced myself knowing she was surely about to knock me over. Sam luckily swooped in between us and grabbed her.
