Sam's POV

I woke up and suddenly the memories from the night prior hit me like a tidal wave. Maeve's head was on my chest and I had almost stopped breathing but felt my heart beating faster the longer I lay there. I had to get out of here. I carefully moved myself out from under her and slipped on clothes. I glanced back at her briefly, a small smile on my lips when I saw her bruised nose, she was wild. I loved having her around and I probably just fucked everything up. I walked out of the bedroom and quickly went out to my car. I drove to Sloan and Jakes' house. I used my key to get in and settled in the kitchen as I started some coffee. I heard footsteps coming down the hall as was hoping it was Sloan. I groaned when I saw it was Jake.

"Well hello to you too." He scoffed as he walked towards me, "What are you doing in my house Samuel."

"I came to talk to Sloan actually, where is she?"

"She went to take the kids lunch at school, she should be back soon." He said as he continued into their living room. I sipped on my coffee hoping it would help me feel less like garbage from the hangover. I watched as minutes passed on the clock, tapping my leg nervously. I just needed someone else to talk through things with me and Sloan had been my best friend since we were kids. I breathed a sigh of relief when she finally walked through the front door.

"Hey Sammy, what are you doing here?" she asked as she put her bag down and walked over to me,

"I fucked up, and I need advice." I said turning to face her, she nodded telling me to continue. "I slept with Maeve." I said quietly,

"WHAT" I heard Jake yell from the other room. I put my head in my hands and groaned and he walked back into the kitchen.

"How did you even hear that." I asked annoyed, not really wanting him involved in this conversation,

"Don't mind me, just continue." He stood across the counter, like if he was further away I wouldn't mind him listening

"Ok, but you have to keep your mouth shut. This is only between us." I said sternly looking to Jake, he nodded.

"So, you slept together, why is that a bad thing? I've seen the way you look at her." Sloan said

"Where do I even start, we have gotten so close as friends, she works for me, she doesn't seem interested in me at all, one minute we are fine and then she's being cold. Like last night she seemed excited to go to the bar and then ignored me the whole time. Plus, she is seeing someone."

"I didn't hear you say how you feel about her?" Sloan asked, giving me an already knowing look, she knew me almost better than I knew myself.

"Well, I thought maybe I was starting to like her, but after last night...I'm terrified of how much I like her." I ran my hand through my hair out of sheer anxiety.

"How do you know she's seeing someone?" Sloan asked

"She leaves like 3 or more times a week, late at night and doesn't come back until early in the morning." They both nodded,

"Hold on," Jake stood up from leaning on the counter, "You hooked up with her last night? What did she say this morning?" He raised a brow,

"I uh, I left while she was still asleep." I bit the inside of my cheek.

"You like this girl and you just left. You're an idiot." Sloan said annoyed at my actions

"Maeve doesn't seem like the type you'd want to piss off Sam, I watched her headbutt a man 3x her size last night." Jake said, Sloan's eyes got wide as she looked over to me,
