*I have had a few people ask me via dm or comments, Maeve's leg is amputated below the knee, she still has a leg people, just less of it.*

Maeve's POV

My alarm went off and I sat up in bed, instantly shaking Sam awake in excitement. Today was the day I got a lot of my independence back. It had been 3 weeks since I got my staples out of my knee and today I was getting my cast taken off my arm and getting my prosthetic for my leg.

"Sam! Today's the day!" I said as he grinned, rubbing his eyes,

"I know it's today" He sat up and kissed my cheek, "Don't we have like another 2 hours before we have to leave though?" He groaned laying back down,

"You can go back to sleep if you want, I just wanted enough time for me to make breakfast and get ready," I said as I started to get out of bed,

"OR" Sam said as he grabbed me and tugged me back into bed against his chest, "We can lay here for another hour and we can get breakfast on the way?" I rolled my eyes and I turned to face him, "I know you're excited, but can we please just lay here a while longer? I know after today you're going to be on the move non-stop." he smiled

"Fine" I said and nuzzled closer to him, his arms wrapping around me. I knew he was just as excited as I was for today, he just wasn't a morning person. I stayed in bed with him for about an hour but there was no way I could go back to sleep. He needed half the time I needed to get ready so I carefully scooted away from him so I could get up without waking him. I quietly crutched my way over to the bathroom and brushed my teeth, put on makeup and then made my way back to Sam's dresser. Most of my clothes had made his dresser their new home over the last few weeks. I had rarely gone into my room since the accident. I picked out a pair of blue jean shorts and a crop top that had a ruffle around the bottom. It was more girly than I'd normally choose but I was feeling giddy. I looked into the full length and noticed Sam laying in the bed just staring at me lazily,

"How long have you been awake?" I asked as I made my way over,

"A while, I like just watching you sometimes." He shrugged, getting out of bed and resting his hands on my hips, kissing me.

"Thats a little creepy" I said playfully,

"No it's not. I'm just so lucky to have you around and I like to enjoy it" he said as he turned to go get ready.

"If you say so," I said brushing it off, but I knew he meant it and how much he loved me. "I'll be waiting in the kitchen."

Once Sam finished getting ready and fed the dogs we both got into the car. We went through the drive through and got some greasy breakfast foods on our way to our first stop. The first place we were going was to get my cast off. We pulled up to my orthopedic surgeon's office and made my way inside. The appointment was a breeze, he cut off my cast and then put my arm in a brace. The brace was so much better, it started below my elbow, unlike the 90 degree cast which had gone from my armpit down to my wrist. I could also take off the brace to shower. My elbow was a little stiff but nothing I couldn't handle. I got back out to the waiting room where Sam was sitting. I held up my arm and he smiled,

"Look at you, how bad does it smell?" He jested, pulling my arm up to his face.

"Not horrible honestly, but the doc did wipe it down pretty good." I grinned,

"So what's the other thing on our agenda? I can't seem to remember." He asked as we made our way to the car,

"You know exactly where we are going," I said as I got situated in my seat, "Now lets hurry, I'm so excited I literally cannot stand it"
