Sid: Hello.
Sm1: Kaha ho? { Where are you?}
Sid checked the time and his eyes widened.
Sid: Sorry, mai 5 minute mein nikalta hu. Tu pahuch gayi? { Sorry, I will leave in five minutes. You reached?}
Sm1: Nahi, raste mein hu. { No, I am on the way.}
Sid: Mai aata hu. { I'll come.}
They kept the came.
Sid: Dada, mujhe kahi jana hoga. { Dada, I have to go somewhere.}
Abhi went out hearing Vibha call him before he could respond. When he came back Sid was in a kurta, he was removing his watch.
Abhi: Kurte mein kaha ja raha hai? { Where are you going in kurta?}
Sid: Aa kar batata hu, abhi bahut jaldi hai. { I'll say after returning, I am in hurry right now.}
He left after bidding everyone bye.
Jaan: Yeh kaha gaya aise tayar hokar? { Where did he go getting ready like this?}
Abhi: Pata nahi, bola ki aakar batayega. { I don't know, he said he will tell after returning.}
Meanwhile Sid drove to a building and went to a room.
Sid: Sorry Avu.
Avu: Koyi baat nahi. { It's ok.}
He looked at her and smiled seeing her in a saree, it was a beautiful red saree. She wore no make up, her mangalsutra adding to her beauty and all the jewellery she wore sparkling. But then he noticed her hairline isn't filled.
Sid: Maang nahi bhari? { You didn't fill your hairline?}
Avu: Nahi, mai chahti thi aaj tum hi bharo. { No, I wanted you to do it today.}
He took the vermilion(sindoor) from her and filled her hair line, but not much so that her hair could cover it, like she does everyday.
Avu: Acha ab kahani padhni hai. { Now I have to read the story.}
Sid: Hmm, mujhe pata nahi hai pati saath baithta hai ya nahi, ya kisike saath zaroori hota hai kya baithna. { Hmm, I don't know whether husband sits together or not, or is there someone you have to sit with necessarily.}
Avu: Mujhe bhi, par kisi aur ko toh nahi bula sakte. Toh shuru kare? { Even me, but we can't call anyone else. Shall we start.}
He nodded. After sometime when they were done they sat up on the bed. They avoided talking much as they can't drink water till they see the moon. They passed the hours by listening to songs or reading books or anything at all. When only half an hour was left Avu started preparing the plate and all the things needed. He didn't know in much detail so took out the things she asked from from his or her bag, in whichever it was.
Sid: Wakt ho gaya hai, chale? { It's time, shall we go?}
She nodded and both went to the terrace of the building. She lit the diya and kept it in the channi(seive) before looking through it at the moon and then at Sid. Then she bent and touch his feet then he made her drink water. Then he did the same things other than touching feet.
Avu: Yeh bayna.
She said while forwarding the disposable box which had the sweet with 101 rupees.
Sid: Par mummy ko kya bolkar dunga yeh? { But what will I tell mummy while giving it?}
Avu: Bhabhi jo bayna degi mummy ko, usmein mila dena. Maine wahi banaya hai jo tumne kaha bhabhi banati hai. Paise unke purse mein rakh dena. { Mix it with the bayna bhabhi gives to mummy. I have made what you said bhabhi makes only. Keep the money in her purse.}
Sid: Mila toh mai dunga, par paise kaise rakhu, maa ka purse unki almari mein rehta hai. Agli baar bahar jaa rahi hogi jab rakh dunga. { I will mix it, but how will I keep the money, maa's purse is usually in her cupboard. I'll keep it the next time she is going out somewhere.}
Avu: Hmm. Ab ghar jakar kuch khalo. { Hmm. Now you go home and eat something.}
Sid: Pehle tujhe prashad khilana hai. { First I have to feed you prashad.}
They fed each other the sweet then Sid left for home while Avu went to the room and changed back to the saree she was wearing earlier before checking out and returning home. She had to remove the ring, nupital chain and other jewellery also. She reached home and she and Jai had dinner, not before she secretly kept aside the cow's food. Meanwhile Sid reached home and was asked questions.
Sid: Mere dost ki tabiyat kharab ho gayi toh milne gaya tha aur uske ghar mein pooja hone ki wajah se kurta pehenkar hi jana tha. { My friend got ill so I went to his room and there was pooja in his home so had to wear kurta.}
All believed the reason. He then secretly mixed the food and to his luck Vibha's purse wasn't in the almirah today so kept the money also before going out for dinner.
Sid: Maa, mai room mein kha lu toh chalega, thoda kaam hai zaruri, abhi yaad aya. { Maa, is it fine if I eat in room, there is some important work, I just remembered.}
She nodded and he went to room and took out cow's food before having his dinner. This all had been going on for few months now, he and Avu were married and had to hide it from their family but still followed all the rituals and met frequently. They don't love each other but still decided to give their best to this marriage. They have become friends now. After sometime Abhi came to the room.
Sid: Dada.
Abhi: Ha?
Sid: Meri ek dost hai, Avneet. Hum kuch din pehle hi mile the. Yeh dekho, uski photo. { There is a friend of mine, Avneet. We met few days back only. See, her photo.}
Abhi: Punjabi hai? { Is she Punjabi?}
Sid: Ha, typical Punjabi. Waise western pehenti hai par occasionally aise pura Punjabi style bhi pehenti hai. { Yes, typical Punjabi. She wears western only, occasionally she wears complete Punjabi style.}
Abhi: Ohh.
Avu also told Jainavi about Sid as her friend. Sidneet had decided to make the families meet as they knew they can't hide their marriage forever, but just as friends. They hadn't decided yet whether they want to divorce or not. That night Avu was lying awake thinking about it when she remembered hers and Sid's conversation just after their marriage.
