Dean's POV

"How is she?" Bobby walked in.
I've been at the hospital with Trish for the past hour. I called Bobby once the doctors took her in. This is my fault. Everyone close to me, everyone gets hurt.
"Stable." I told him.
"Is she, you know? Gonna make it?" He asked.
"I've called Cas two times already."
"Where's Sam?"
"He had to stay on the case. He should be here soon." I looked at Trish. I feel like an idiot.
"Dean, can we talk?" Cas was by the door. I walked over to him and we stepped outside of the room.
"Cas, where the hell have you been?" I asked with a bit of anger.
"That doesn't matter. She will heal." He told me.
"Yeah, because you'll heal her." I said.
"I can't. If it was you then I may be able to."
"What are you talking about?" I questioned.
"Yeah, what are you talking about?" Bobby wondered as he walked out of the room.
"Nephilim. She'll be able to heal by herself." Cas told us.
"That means she's half human and half angel. How is that possible?" Bobby questioned.
"The day she was born, angel blood fell into her mouth and now it flows through her body. Lately I've been worried because ever since she returned she has had a bit of grace in her. Every time I see her, the grace is growing."
"You said you can't receive grace unless God gives grace or you kill for it. So, when she went to heaven, did God give her some?" I wondered.
"No. An angel gave her grace." Cas said.
"How much?" Bobby asked.
"Enough so she will actually be able to kill for grace." Cas explained.
"Cas, whose grace is it?" I asked. He stayed quiet, "Cas, whose grace is inside of her?!" I'm starting to get annoyed at him.
"Medatron probably got to her because he's the only person that has my grace." Cas seemed upset.
"So, your grace is inside of her? All of it?" Bobby wondered.
"No, just a small amount. Most of it Medatron still has." Cas said.
"Why don't you take your grace out of her?" I questioned.
"I may kill her if I do. That's actually how she is still alive and healing."
"So why can't you heal her again?" I wondered.
"I don't know what the side effects will be. I've healed other angels but I've never technically healed myself. I guess it is kind of like that." Cas was confused.
"Cas, you heal yourself all the time." I said.
"Dean, it may be different because it's his vessel." Bobby told me then Cas walked around us. He walked into Trish's room. I walked in behind him. He went up close to Trish.
"Cas, what are you doing?" I asked. He stood back from Trish and looked at me.
"I'm going to give her more of my grace. She'll heal a lot faster. Once she is healed, we can extract my grace from her with a needle and I can take it back." Cas explained.
"What does that leave you with though?" I asked.
"Enough." He looked at Trish.
"Enough for what?"
"To live." He looked back at me.
"No Cas. It's too risky. She's strong. She can last." I'm not letting Cas put his life on the line to save Trish.
"Dean, I'll be fine. So will she." Cas told me.
"Cas, don't." Trish said. She's awake but she still has her eyes closed. I went over to her.
"Hey Trish, how ya doing?" I asked her. She looked at me.
"Fine." She responded. She looked at Cas then her eyes widened and her heartbeat started to rise.
"Trish, I know what you see." Cas said.
"Cas, what do you mean? What can she see?" I worried.
"She sees my true form. I told you. The grace was growing and now she can see true forms. She's just surprised and shocked." Cas explained and Trish started to calm down a bit.
"I have grace inside me? How is that possible?" Trish questioned. She looked at all of us.
"Well I just found out so one of you boys tell her." Bobby said. I looked at Cas.
"Dean, Bobby, can I talk to Trish alone?" Cas asked. I looked at Bobby then we both walked out of the room. The door closed behind us.
"How do you think she will react?" Bobby asked.
"To be honest with ya Bobby, I don't really know? It could go either-" I paused thinking about what could happen.
"Dean?" Bobby looked worried.
"How is she?" Sam arrived.
"Awake. Cas is talking to her." I told Sam.
"Good, about what though?" Sam wondered.
"I'll sum it up. Trish has had angelic blood in her since the day she was born. When she was brought back, she's had grace in her. Yes, angel grace." Bobby explained.
"When did you know about this?" Sam asked me.
"I just found out about the grace." I told him.
"What about the angelic blood?"
"Awhile." I said.
"Was I ever going to find out?"
"Cas didn't even want to tell me at first and he didn't want Trish to find out but now she has to know." I told him. The door opened.
"She knows now but she wants to know how the case is going." Cas told us. We all walked into the room.
"Sam, what's going on with the case?" She asked him.
"Well, I met your coach. He apparently knows us and he said before the cops came, he saw a pack of people running away as if they were werewolves. He told us that there was five of them." Sam said.
"So my guess is that I'm not going to finish this case?" She grinned.
"No." Sam smiled. Trish seemed upset now.
"I have to go." Cas said then he was gone.
"Dean." Sam said and wanted to talk privately. We walked over to the door, "I'll finish the case. You stay and take care of Trish. If she can go home then take her to the bunker." Sam said quietly.
"No, my job is to take care of you. Dad told me to take care of you. You always will come first. Before Bobby, before Trish, and before Cas. Hell, before me. This is a pack we are up against. You need me." I told him.
"Guys, all three of you. Finish the case. I'll be fine. I shouldn't have joined you guys. It's your family business, not mine." Trish told us.
"You are family now. We don't leave family behind." Sam said.
"Family don't end in blood, and it doesn't start there either." I looked at Bobby because he's the one that told me that, "Family cares about you, not what you can do for them. Family's there, for the good, bad, all of it. They've got your back, even when it hurts. Blood doesn't make you family." I said.
"And shouldn't family trust each other?" She questioned.
"Yes." I responded.
"Why don't you trust me when I want to go do something? When I want to go hunt." She asked. I looked at Sam and Bobby. They looked at each other then left the room, "Dean, explain to me."
"You've only ever killed so few demons. You haven't fully started to hunt. We've had to kill things that look like kids. Sometimes it gets to the point of where you may have to kill the people closest to you. The worst part is, you have to let go of the past and never look back. Every time I look back, something bad happens. It always ends up being my fault and I don't want you going through that. You are a good hunter, but I'm sending you to your death sentence pretty much if you hunt. I don't want that." I told her.
"That is why you leave me with a blade. I'm able to kill Dean. No matter what form it is in. I can hunt and kill." She said and that really aches me.
"Killing people, or things that look like people, can leave you with a dark pit in your stomach. Once you touch that darkness, there is never going back."
"Dean, you may not be able to take away that pit but you can always find the good side. What's the family business again?" She asked me.
"Killing things, saving people, the family business." I told her.
"You kill to save lives. In a way, you are a hero." She told me. I looked down at the mark. I rubbed my thumb over it. She grabbed my hand, "Dean, don't worry about that. We'll find something."
"What if we don't and I'm stuck being cursed for the rest of my life."
"I know that you'll always stay you."
"How do you know that?"
"Because you're a Winchester." She told me. I looked at her.
"You're not the only person that thinks that way."
"Who else does?" She asked.
"We have a friend named Charlie. About two weeks before you came back, that was the last time I saw her. She said that same thing to me the same way you did. But if you really do want to be a Winchester then you have to be ready for anything and you can't hesitate."
"As long as I have family, I won't." She smiled.
