I looked around, feeling a bit out of place. I still had to get used to the whole situation. I rubbed my eyes and tried to consume another spoonful of cold soup, but ended up barfing it all up again, due to my fucking stomach. God it was hopeless. No matter how hard I tried, I still couldn't eat just one bit. My wound kept opening and closing and opening and eventually I just gave up on the soup and tried to read my book.

After reading a few pages, I heard a knock on my door. I used my powers to see who it was. "Come in mami!" I yelled at the door.
My ma opened the door slowly. "Hey" she smiled brightly at me, pacing over to the side of my bed and sat down on the chair next to me.
"How are you feeling?" She asked calmly. It was kind of weird how she wasn't freaking out and rubbing my hand or doing her worried-face. Something serious must be going on.
"Better." I tried to climb up into a sitting position, without feeling like my stomach would absolutely eat me from the inside.

"I was hoping you'd say that." My mother smiled warmly at me, while sitting in a meditation position on the chair. How weird, she usually tells ME to sit like a lady.
"So, what do you think of my c- I mean Mirabel...?" She spat out. I raised a brow at her. This was definitely acting fishy, but I tried to play it cool.
"She's nice. She let me borrow her clothes and room." I added.
She nodded and hesitated a bit before asking, "Can I ask what happened?" She carefully spoke
"I mean with the bear. I heard you got attacked."
Flashbacks ran through my head. The bear hovering over me, the sharp pain in my stomach, the big animal's giant teeth showing, with an angry grimasse.
"It was awful... I was just leaving the table, to get some air, but I think I went too far up in the mountains, because.. then this giant black bear just attacked me from behind and the next thing I knew, I was laying underneath it, looking it directly in the eye." I tried looking around the room, to not burst into tears all of a sudden. "It was very scary. It was a miracle I made it out alive."
I turned to look at my mom, to see her reaction, but almost had a heart attack, as I turned to look into a completely different person's eyes.
"ARGHH" I jumped at the boy's sudden appearance, making the boy scream along with me.
"W-what the- who are you?" I stammered, completely shook.
"Oh my god, sorry." The boy in a yellow ruana stumbled over his words, still a bit shocked from my scream, "I-I'm sorry, I didn't mean to startle you, uhm my name's Camilo" he smiled reassuring at me.
I slowly nodded with a stern expression, calming down a bit, "y/n."
"I know. I've heard so much about you," he smiled "I was just curious about the new girl in our house, I had to meet you" he gave a little chuckle, probably feeling a bit guilty.
"Sorry for scaring you."
"No, I'M sorry for scaring YOU!" I giggled back.
"Wait, where is my mamá?"
The boy suddenly shapeshifted into my ma's figure, making me slowly putting together the pieces of the puzzle with a slightly open mouth.
"Aha." I smirked, "so you were spying on me?"
"nono, that wasn't my intention, I just- I-" he tried to come up with something, clearly trying not to seem like a weirdo for storming in like that in a disguise.
"I'm joking" I assured the fumbling boy.
"Oh." He took a second to start chuckling a bit.
"What?" I asked.
"Nothing, hey how about when you get better, I can show you around the house? I'd love to show you around the town too." he grinned at me.
"Sure." I replied with a small smile. He gave me a thumbs up before asking me,
"So, how old are you, bonita?" He turned his body to me in the chair.
"You heard so much about me and yet you don't know my age?"
"Nah, I guess they left that out on the monologue about your little mountain stunt" he gave me a playful smile.
"Funny." I raised my brows, trying not to smile at his comment. "I'm 15."
His eyes lightened up. "Oh, me too. And so is Mirabel."
"Wait..." I thought for a second. "What's mirabel's gift? I heard you all have powers, just like my family, but not what kind of powers you have."
His smile disappeared, "She never got one." He spoke softly.
"Why's that?" My eyebrows pulled together into a concerned face.
"We don't know, but she's the only Madrigal with no gift." He explained with a stern expression. I could tell he still felt bad about it.
"Wow. That must've been tough on her, I mean considering your whole ass family is magical except for her."
"It was pretty rough." he confirmed, "Actually, the whole casita fell apart because of it some time ago." He added.
"What?"
"Long Story." He replied.
"Oh, okay. You can tell me about it later then, I only have time in here, so any kind of entertainment keeps me alive. Hey, thanks for visiting" I smiled.
"You're welcome. Hey, when you can walk, come visit me, my room is just down the hall" he sat up, with a crooked smile on his freckled face.
"I will." I responded.
"I should probably get out, before I get caught... nice talking to you though" he waved at me before shapeshifting into my mamá again and slamming the door behind him.
I waved back, smiling at our little conversation after he closed the door.
