Suzanne's POV

My phone vibrated in my back pocket again, this was the third time,
I grabbed it and glanced at the caller ID;
'Peaches', 'this had better be good Andy', I muttered before answering.

"I got it!, I got it Sue, I got it, I got the job"
He was screaming, "okay relax dude, got what exactly?"
"I got the job at Jerry's", he said in a very happy tone.
"No way!", I didn't realize how loud I said it untill I noticed the looks people gave me.. I muttered a little sorry before whispering back on the phone.
"I'm at work now Andy, and you know how my manager can get, I'm so happy for you dude, I'll stop by your place after work with pizza, and we can celebrate okay?"

"Yay!, can't wait, I'm so happy Sue, I really am"
"Me too, now get off the phone before you get me fired" I said and hung up, returning my phone to my back pocket, I got back to work, I must've been smiling so hard my co worker Stephanie nudged me with her elbow..

"You okay girl?, your chin is about to explode". We were laughing by now.
"Andy got hired at Jerry's and it's just so overwhelming, that place is so great", I couldn't help but feel a sense of relief.
"Are you kidding Sue, that's great news, I love Jerry's!" She squeaked.
"Don't we all?", I added as we laughed

"Anything funny I should know about girls?"
My manager appeared from nowhere, keeping a straight face, Steph and I straightened immediately. I coughed and cleared my throat as I tried to answer.
"uh no sir, we were just talking about that new blueberry juice, it's great" I tried..
"Yeah amazing, you should try it sir, or have you?" Steph added as I face palmed myself mentally and shot her the 'you shouldn't have said anything' look.

James didn't say anything, he just kept looking at us, then finally said
"get back to work, there's a lot to do".
"Of course, sure", Steph and I replied as he left.

I heaved a sigh of relief, I always hated moments with James, he was somewhat strict, not a bit chatty and very principled, I've seen him fire employees before my very eyes so I didn't need to be told.

He owned and managed the place, it's quite a big supermarket and Steph and I worked at the desk ad cashiers.
I loved working here despite David's sour attitude, he paid really well. I didn't really blame him though, he's 31 and widowed, his  8 months pregnant wife died two years ago from a car accident and left him the saddest man.
He has never had interests in anyone since then, and I feel really sorry for him sometimes.
