Third Person POV - Carrington Manor - February 13th

"Hey, how are you holding up?"

Liam looked up to Kirby as she closed the door and walked further into the bedroom. He clutched Fallon's pillow tighter to his chest.

"As best as possible," he responded.

She sighed and sat on the edge of the bed.

"We'll find her, Liam. I know we will. We just have to keep looking... and never give up hope."

How can she be so positive?

"Thanks, Kirby. That means a lot."

A soft smile graced her lips as she gazed sadly at her friend. She leaned over and patted him on the back.

"It'll be okay, no matter what happens," she assured, though Liam wasn't convinced.

Again with the positivity. How?

He simply nodded, not wanting to continue with the topic.

"So... how've ya been...?"

He chuckled and shook his head, not loosening his grip on the pillow.

"Okay, I'll go now," she said quickly, standing up and heading towards the door.

She froze, however, when her phone buzzed in her pocket. She pulled it out and looked at the screen.

"Oh, it's the police," she told Liam before answering it.

"Hello?"

"Yes, Kirby?" a man spoke through the speaker.

"Yes, this is she."

"We may have found a new lead. If you'd like to be part of this investigation, I suggest you come down to the station immediately."

Liam noticed a change in Kirby's demeanor and suddenly sat up straighter, focusing his attention on the redhead.

"Yes, I'll be right there. Thank you, officer."

She quickly hung up and turned back to Liam, not surprised by his newly hopeful look.

"What did they want? Did they find anything?"

She smiled and shifted her weight between her two feet.

"They said they found a new lead, and they want me down at the station," she hurriedly informed him.

His eyes widened.

"Oh, well what are you still doing here? Go, go!"

She nodded and spun around, rushing out of the room.

As the door closed, Liam sighed and closed his eyes, leaning back and falling into the sheets of the bed once more.

At least something is happening down at the station.

He hated the times when the police were silent. Without any leads, they didn't contact the Carringtons much. At least, with a false hope, something was happening. Whether this something was something minor or nothing at all, Liam's spirits were brought up by the communications. He was glad that people were still actually doing something about this.

As the day usually went, Liam fell asleep with the sound of his wife's voice playing in his head.

.....

Liam threw himself back on the bed after closing the bathroom door.

Face shoved in the indented pillow, he huffed out a heavy sigh. Sleeping all day really wears a person out. He didn't know why, it just did.

His phone buzzed, resulting in him slowly lifting his head out of the pillow and reaching over to grab the device. Squinting at the bright screen - it was nighttime now and the lights were off - his tiredness immediately went away. A message from Kirby had caught his attention.

Quickly, Liam opened his phone and went to the message, scanning the text.

'hey, something's happened. dont get your hopes up too high, but this is looking good. will update you later.'

His eyes brightened just a little.
