Narrator POV
Up in the boys dormitories, the marauders were getting changed into their costumes, for the Halloween party of course. There was white face paint everywhere, black threads everywhere, buttons everywhere.
However, the girls dormitories was a completely different story. It looked like a cosmetic bomb had exploded. there was lipstick and powder everywhere and it smelt like a perfume shop. Lily was the last one in there, just touching up her makeup, as all of the other girls had gone down into the common room.
The boys trundled down the stairs in their costumes, Sirius tripping over his, then casually getting up like nothing had happened.
"Wow." Three boys exclaimed, admiring the girls costumes. But James' mind was elsewhere.
"Where's Lily?" He asked.
"She's still getting ready." Florence answered.
All of the girls were in beautiful genie outfits; all in different colours. Florence was in a teal blue, flimsy outfit, with subtle pink lipgloss and had gone too heavy on the eyeliner. Autumn was in a baby orange outfit, her brown curls had tumbled loosely on her shoulders. Claris was in sparkly emerald green, and had bejewelled her eyelashes and had bright pink lipstick. The three boys were still staring at them in amazement.
"This ones mine, keep your eyes off." Sirius said, wide eyed walking over to his girlfriend and putting his arms on her waist.
"All yours." she smiled. "And I really like your costumes too!"
Sirius was a dementor, draped in shaggy black clothing. Remus was a cowboy, dressed in a brown hat with matching boots and belt. James was a ghost boy, covered in white face paint, wearing all white clothes. Peter, obviously not knowing what to wear, dressed up as a rat, with little ears and a pink nose.
"Alright, let's go!" Peter said, somewhat desperate to get to the party.
"Wait what about Lily?" Claris pointed up to the girls dorms.
"Don't worry, I'll wait. You guys go ahead." James said, leaning on the side of the sofa, looking up at the girls dorms.
Three girls and three boys happily trotted out of the common room and down to the great hall for the party. James waited for Lily.
"Woah..." Lily walked out of the dorm, leaving James speechless.
She was a red genie. It was a dark yet bold red, with golden rims. She was wearing little eye makeup, but had dosed her lips with bright red lipstick, putting the whole outfit together.
"You like it?" She said, twirling in front of James.
"You look... woah."
"Thanks? Where are the others?" She asked, James still staring at her.
"Um, they went down to the party about 5 minutes ago and I said I'd wait for you." He grinned.
"Thank you! Now shall we go?"
"We shall." He said, holding out his arm. And as expected, Lily linked with it.
"Your costume is amazing too! You must have spent ages putting that face makeup on! Imagine how hard it's going to be to get it off!" Lily laughed, as James' eyes widened.
"Oh no, I didn't think of that!" He ran his fingers through his hair, which (at the moment) was the only part of him that wasn't white.
"Oh James!" She grabbed his arm and stopped him in his tracks "I left my lipstick upstairs! Can you wait for me if I go and get it?"
"Lily-"
"Pleaseeee?" She dragged out the 'e'. She tilted her head and batted her eyelashes, making him convinced.
"Fine, I'll wait. But you had better be quick." He tried keeping a serious face, but failed when it soon grew into a smile.
She dextrously (btw,if you don't know, dextrously means quickly!) ran up the stairs and minutes later, she returned with her lipstick. Still running, she grabbed hold of James' wrist and dragged him with her.
"Lily! Slow down!" He laughed, trying to catch up with her, but she was quite a fast runner. They stopped outside the great hall, catching their breaths.
The hall was tremendously decorated with muggle Halloween decorations: paper signs, wall banners and so much more. There was a long food table covered with Halloween gourmet treats like sweets and chocolate. The hogwarts ghosts silently floated around the great hall, definitely setting the Halloween mood. They even managed to get muggle music, currently playing 'monster mash'.
"Come on! Let's go dance!" Lily eagerly said to James, looking hopefully up at him.
"Lily, dancings really not my thing I-" he was interrupted by a red headed girl dragging him into the crowds of people on the dance floor, all laughing and joking- pulling out silly dance moves to the childish songs.
"Hi." Remus nervously walked up to Claris, who was refilling her glass of water at the food table, turning around to face Remus.
"Oh hi Remus!" She said, taking a sip of her water.
"Um... er... I was just wondering.. if you might want to... you know... come and dance?" He looked at his feet, clicking the heels of his cowboy boots together.
"I would love to! Thank you!" She took his hand and lead him onto the dance floor, with all of the other people pulling out some monster like dance moves making everyone else laugh.
James walked over to the food table, as Lily went to dance with Florence. Minutes later, a tall handsome ravenclaw boy asked Florence to dance, she looked at Lily and Lily raised her eyebrows at her, pushing her towards him. Laughing, Lily waved at her friend, and went off to find James.
Spotting him near the chocolate fountain, she walked over to him, meters away when she tripped over someone's foot and went flying. Luckily, James caught her.
"Gotcha." He smiled, looking down at Lily who was still in his arms- and shock from falling.
"Thanks." She blushed.
He got hold of her hands and brought her closer to the dance floor, she smiled at the ground and walked with him.
After the party had finished, Lily and James were the only ones left in the common room. James was sat on a chair, backwards, whist Lily was sat in front of him, removing his white makeup from his face.
"Finished!"
"That quick?" He said, surprised that it only took 10 minutes.
"Yup. Goodnight James." She stood up, ruffled his hair then pecked the top of his head. She couldn't of had a better day.
