"Hey Michael."
"Hi Amanda." He says, taking a seat at the counter in front of me.
"What would you like?" I say, pulling the notepad out of my pocket.
"I would like to know why the fuck you've been ignoring me." He says, "And I'd like a water." I turn aroud and get him a glass of water.
"The reason is that there was nothing for me to say." I say, sitting the glass of water in front of him.
"Bullshit." He says.
"No it's not." I say, grabbing the last customer's empty plate.
"Amanda, when I called you, where were you at?" He asked, taking a drink of his water.
"Home." I lie.
"Another bullshit answer." He says.
"I would like for you to watch your language. Can n we have this conversation later? I'm working." I tell him.
"No, we can't have this conversation later. We're having it now." Michael says, slamming his hands down on the counter top, causing some people to look.
"Yes we can and we are. Now, are you going to order food? If not, I'm going to have to ask you to leave." I tell him.
"I can't believe you Amanda." He says, "I just can't. Why are you doing this Amanda? Why are you pushing me away?" Michael says.
"I'm not, Its my first day Michael, I don't want to mess it up with this." I say.
"If you just fucking tell me where you were at, I'll leave. Promise." He bargains.
"I was at Jacob's, okay?" I say, throwing the towel I was holding. The color in Michael's face drained.
"You were where?" He asked.
"At Jacob's. You wanted to know." I said.
"Did you fuck him?" He asked.
"MICHAEL!" I yell.
"TELL ME AMANDA!" He yells, standing up and slamming his hands down on the countertop.
"No Michael." I say.
"You did. You little slut." He says.
"What?" I say, eyes wide with shock.
"You hear me. You fucked him and I called you a slut." He says. With anger flooding me, I grab his water and throw it in his face.
"Leave Michael." I say sternly.
"WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT FOR?!" He says, lifting his shirt to wipe his face.
"Leave Michael. Don't make me say it again." I say, turning around and walking into the back. I hear the ding of the door. I look out to make sure he isn't here before going back out there.
"Are you okay miss?" One of the customers ask me.
"Yeah, I'm fine." I tell them.
"Amanda? What happened?" Judy asked, walking out to the front.
"I don't even know, Judy." I say, leaning against the counter.
"Go. Take a break." She says, "If they ask, I'll tell them you got sick and had to leave."
"No, I'll be fine Judy." I tell her.
"No, something like this has happened to me before." She says.
"Really?" I ask.
"Yeah. My ex boyfriend came in, start crap and I did the exact something you did. Thrown water." She says, laughing.
