" What's done cannot be undone."

― William Shakespeare , Macbeth

(February 7, 2018: Belvedere Park, Los Angeles, CA, 2:15 PM)

The warm bright sun had been kissed by a cold Pacific breeze as it watched the humans roaming around the park. The serene greenery and rushing pristine manmade lake had attracted the tourists and locals alike. Finding the perfect spot for their private talk, Carol sat on the bench along with her old friend and thought of some questions for him. Mar-Vell was waiting for the right timing to speak up, even he was slightly drunk.

" Mar-Vell, is there something you can tell me? " the blonde half-Kree heroine curiously asked and looked concerned at him.

" Carol, I'm not even sure if you will believe me in this one, " he seriously broke his silence and kept fidgeting his fingers, sighing. " You may find it very ridiculous. I'm sure you will laugh at me. "

" Silly! How would I know if it's ridiculous?! " she chuckled. " Look, we have been friends for years now. You were once too serious, but I found your awkwardness and sense of humor. "

" It's just when you took over the mantle as Captain Marvel and went all out, " Mar-Vell vented out and crossed his forearms. " People got all their eyes on you and honored you like a queen! How about me?! I'm a useless piece of crap from another galaxy and waiting to die as a street rat in the City of Angels! Do you know how it feels to be nobody? Tell me! "

Carol felt guilty and heavily sighed upon hearing the homeless Kree's unleashed his hatred towards her former mentee. She couldn't think of any words to respond, instead she had to listen to him.

" I really don't know if you're gonna believe me, " he continued and rubbed his eyes, silently weeping. " You just took everything from me!"

" I'm really sorry..." she calmly broke her silence and gently patted the space alien without a roof. " I never meant to disown you, Mar-Vell. If you find me that I snag your whole life, but you helped me finding of what I am intended to be. I know you have been avoiding your previous life, but you still have a chance to be a hero on your own. "

Mar-Vell remained silent and sadly bowed his head which he sighed. He listened and tried to compose himself, realising his friend's words. It took time for him to bring back his senses and think of the words he could say. Carol looked at her old chum and placed her hands on her thighs, waiting for him to speak up.

" Mar-Vell? " she called his attention and curiously cocked her eyebrows.

" Carol, your words make any sense to me now, " he calmly broke his silence.

" What do you mean? "

" Remember you told me that I still have a chance to be a hero on my own? "

" Yeah, care to explain it? "

" But what if? "

" I won't listen to you? " Carol surmised. " No, I'm willing to listen. Go on. "

The homeless pink Kree took a deep breath and looked sincerely spoke, " It's pretty hard to explain, but I hope you will believe me. "

" What is it? "

" There's a physically abused boy in that Foundation facility's containment cell, Carol. That monster which the SHIELD people are talking about is the one who's making that kid experience such hardships. "

The blonde Avenger's eyebrows raised as she became intrigued and crossed her arms. She wanted to hear more of that revelation from her old friend.

" A boy? " she asked. " How come? Where did this story come from? "
