"yunho... we can go out to the hall, it's okay."

"no... no, let's just do this here."

mingi gently reached for yunho's hand, wanting to comfort the boy as best he could. yunho flinched slightly and pulled his hand away, looking at the ground.

"yuyu... hey, don't push me away..."

"i-i need to..."

"what?"

yunho looked up at mingi with sad eyes, then gently took mingi's hand again and sighed.

"i-i have a lot to tell you. i guess i'll start with this? i know you still have feelings for me. i know you do a-and i want you to get rid of them."

"wh— yunho, i can't do that."

"well... try... please."

mingi shook his head, squeezing yunho's hand.

"you don't have to like me back, yuyu. but i'm never going to stop loving you. ever."

"i-i— you deserve so much better, min..."

"no... i don't. you've given me so much, y'know? i wouldn't want to love anyone else."

yunho frowned a bit, looking down.

"can i say something?" mingi asked sweetly, running his thumb over the back of yunho's hand.

"okay..." yunho whispered.

"i don't know why you think i deserve better. if anyone deserves better here, it's you. i'm the one who broke your heart in the first place, and the fact that we're living together and best friends again absolutely blows my mind. i'm okay with you not loving me the same way because i know how you felt when we broke up. i know you blamed yourself, when it was my insecurities that were the problem. and i'm sorry for all of it."

"w-what? min..."

"i'm not wrong, am i?"

"i— i just... i don't know. about what i need to tell you... um, y-you know how i started going to school with you after i was a trainee?"

mingi nodded.

"i-i gave it up... to find you again. t-they told me i was ready to debut, i was in the debut lineup... b-but i couldn't do it. i knew that m-more than anything, i needed you. i couldn't imagine doing anything without you."

"you gave up being a trainee for me?"

yunho nodded nervously, afraid to make eye contact with the younger.

"yunho... don't lie to me..."

"i-i'm not lying! i gave up being a trainee because it felt wrong to be doing anything without you. you're my soulmate, min. i would walk to the ends of earth with you."

"and yet you don't have feelings for me?"

"that's the problem! i-i do, i-i don't want to... i-i'm scared of loving you like that, because i can't lose you again. mingi you mean way too much to me for me to even risk losing you."

"you won't lose me. what we have? this is what forever looks like, yuyu."

"i-i don't— i-i can't believe you..."

"if you want, we can take this slow. we don't have to rush anything if you're not ready."

"y-you'd do that for me?" yunho asked weakly.

"i'd do anything for you."

yunho wrapped his arms tightly around mingi, afraid to let go. mingi kissed the boy's cheeks, holding him tightly to his chest.

"i'm not going anywhere, yuyu. you have me wrapped around your finger."

yunho hummed lightly, smiling a little before pulling away.

"wanna go home?" he asked softly.

"what about dinner with the guys?" mingi asked.

yunho nodded, then the two went and joined their friends.

"everything all good?" san asked.

the two boys nodded, smiling small. they sat down beside each other and mingi rested his hand on yunho's knee, then the group began to discuss where they should go for dinner.

while they did, mingi found himself staring at yunho, watching the boy as his eyes lit up when certain foods were brought up. everything he did was so beautiful to mingi, and mingi felt extremely lucky that yunho was willing to give it a try.

he vowed that he would give yunho the world, one step at a time.
