seonghwa and hongjoong had spent the last week going back and forth between each other's houses, and during the day when the older was at work, hongjoong spent his time going out with their friends. he had never felt so free, and he wished things could be like this forever.

on this specific day, hongjoong was getting ready to go on a little weekend getaway with wooyoung, yeosang and yunho, and although he was excited, he also dreaded leaving seonghwa's side. so, instead of finishing packing like he told seonghwa he was going to, he remained curled up in bed, pouting, while seonghwa made them breakfast.

"hey, bug... you almost packed? breakfast is ready," seonghwa called as he came down the hall.

he walked into the bedroom and cooed a bit at the boy's pout, then walked over and sat at the edge of the bed.

"baby... are you finished packing?"

hongjoong shook his head.

"don't wanna," he mumbled, cuddling into the blankets.

"joong... hey, it's only a weekend, yeah? and when you come back, i'll be waiting for you. we get to spend the entire day after you get back together, remember? i have that day off."

"b-but..."

"shh... no but's baby. you're gonna have an amazing time, yeah?"

"but it's jeju island... i want you to come with me," he whined.

"then we'll make a plan to go together sometime, okay? i want you to have a good time without me too. don't miss me too much."

"i can't help it!"

seonghwa laughed a bit, pulling the boy to sit in his lap.

"then whenever you miss me, call or text me, okay? but don't stop yourself from having fun."

hongjoong nodded, clinging to seonghwa's body a bit.

"now, c'mon... i don't want breakfast to get cold. this is the last meal i get to cook you for a few days, i want you to enjoy it."

hongjoong laughed a bit, nodding as seonghwa picked him up and carried him to the dining room and sat him down.

"oh my, this looks delicious!"

"thank you, love. now, eat up, you still need to finish packing before i take you to the airport."

hongjoong nodded, then the two began to eat quietly, hongjoong making small noises of approval as he ate. seonghwa was left with a smile on his face, happy that his angel was enjoying the food. when he finished, hongjoong was still eating, and the older gently rested his hand on the boy's knee.

"what time's your flight again?"

"mm, it's at one."

"ah, okay... i'll take care of our dishes, you get changed and finish packing, sound good? i'll be right in."

"okay," hongjoong agreed, nodding as he took his last bite and then got up.

he didn't go far though, cupping seonghwa's cheeks quickly and pressing a soft kiss to the older's lips before he finally made his way to his bedroom. he hummed softly as he changed and got to packing, beginning to get excited for his vacation. yunho had been the one to suggest the trip, with wooyoung quickly agreeing and hongjoong soon following. the hardest to convince was yeosang, especially since he already didn't get to see jongho as much as he wanted and hated taking time off from work.

"joongie, baby?" seonghwa muttered, walking into the bedroom.

"hm?"

"san just called and said woo's freaking out over something with the place you're staying, or something like that. can you call him?"

"oh god, he's probably just worried about the check in time again. i'll call him, can you just fold the things on my bed and put them in my suitcase while i do?"

seonghwa nodded, beginning to fold the boy's things one by one and then neatly placing them in the suitcase. he hummed lightly, suddenly getting an idea and going over to an open notebook on the boy's dresser. he ripped out a clean piece of paper and scribbled down a letter for the boy, then tucked it away into the suitcase and smiled before he returned to folding the boy's clothes. soon, hongjoong came in sighing and gave seonghwa a back hug, humming a bit at the warmth.

"everything okay?" seonghwa asked, finishing up with what he was doing.

"yeah, woo just didn't read it correctly and wigged himself out. we're good, it's still a four o'clock check in."

"good. anything else you need me to do?"

"nope, i just have to grab a couple things and then we should be good to cuddle until i have to go."

"okay. you just let me know if you need anything, yeah?"

hongjoong nodded, a smile on his face.

seonghwa sat back on the boy's bed while he ran to the bathroom, grabbing a couple of necessities he would need as quickly as he could before going back and putting everything in his suitcase. he then zipped it up and put it next to the bed before plopping himself down next to seonghwa. the older smiled a bit, watching as his love positioned himself close to him and nuzzled his head into his chest.

"are you really gonna miss me that bad?" seonghwa chuckled.

"mhmm, i've gotten used to having you around so much," hongjoong replied.

"good. the more you miss me, the better it'll feel when you come back," seonghwa joked.

hongjoong let out a soft laugh, looking up at the older and smiling.

"i'm so happy..." he muttered softly. "you make me so, so happy, hwa..."

"and you make me even happier. i love you more than words can explain, my love."

"and i love you more. always."

cute lil happy chapter :') next one's going to be focused on the time they're apart, and after that (mini spoiler) there will be a cottage trip! there's still a little more to be included, but we are getting pretty close to the end!!
