Rachel Solace just got off from school, it was 4 pm. She was a freshman in college, she was at the University of Denver. She was driving home to her house, she lived with Alana Levine, who was her best friend and roommate. She could see the mountain range that was just ahead of her, the top of the mountain was white with some black stripes whilst the lower parts of the mountain were yellow which came from the trees. There was some orange in the mix of the yellow that she could see on the cresting mountain and a clear visual rocky pathway.
To her left there were trees she was driving past, they were yellow with a bit of orange, to her right was just empty land. She revived a phone call from Alana who was calling to see where Rachel was. Rachel looked down at her phone for a quick second then reached down with her right arm and clicked on the pick-up button on her phone which was sitting in the cup pocket.
"Hey, Rachel, when are you getting home?" Alana asked.
"I'm on my way now," Rachel said.
"Oh shit, I want to kill myself," Rachel said as she accidentally knocked down her pack of gum that was on her rare view, she was reaching down feeling around the floor for it as she kept her eyes on the road.
"What happened?" Alana asked.
"I dropped my pen, I got it now," Rachel said as she picked up her pen and put it into her pocket, she then put both hands back onto the steering wheel. Rachel looked at the road for a few seconds then started thinking about her ex-boyfriend.
"You always say you want to kill yourself at every minor inconvenience, should I be concerned?" Alana questioned.
"No, I'll be here for a while, unfortunately," Rachel said.
"Alana, my dalliance relationship with my ex-boyfriend just broke up with me today, because he felt we were taking things too far, so he wanted time away," Rachel said.
"I'm sorry to hear that, honestly, fuck him," Alana said.
"Right," Rachel said simply.
"Lay, I'm one of the nicest people, why do I constantly get rejected and treated like shit by others?" She questioned with a clear heartbreak in her voice, tears forming in her eyes. She quickly wiped her eyes.
"Because they don't deserve you, you're too good for them so they push you away, doing more harm than good," Alana said.
"Hopefully you're right, what's ironic is that he would tell me that he would never hurt me, turns out he did just that." Rachel said.
"I'm sorry, I've been ranting about my problems all this time, I didn't even ask you how you were today. So how are you?" Rachel asked.
"Oh I'm great, I just did gymnastics then went to study biology in college," Alana said.
"Did you eat today?" Rachel questioned.
"Yeah, I ate French toast and bacon for breakfast and I went down to an Italian restaurant for lunch," Alana said.
"Glad you ate today," Rachel said.
"Alana you're worth a diamond to me, hope you know that," Rachel said, giving appreciation, with a slight smile on her face.
"Ray, my life was so dark until I met you, I never thought one person could light it up so much by just existing, I'm glad we met and I wish there were more people in the world like you," Alana said.
