third person pov

"Pepper what happened?" Tony asks concern for his girlfriend as she cries into his shoulder

"Pepper we understand, you are hurt but while Maria gets stuff for your burns can you tell us what happened?" Nat asks. Pepper lifts her head off Tony's shoulder and looks at the concerned group of individuals in front of her, secretly loving the attention, loving the fact that they turned on their own so fast. But playing along she wiped her tears and look at Tony before looking at Fury

"I went t-to see if she wan-ted a cof-fee but she attacked me, I tried pushing her off of me, which made her fall but then she came back and pressed her hands into my arms creating these..." Pepper whimpers holding her arms out showing the burns to everyone in the room. Clint takes a closer look before scoffing and walking away. Maria walks over with the a damp towel and burn lotion.

Tony takes them gratefully and starts helping his girlfriend. Coulson hums then shares a look with Fury.

"Do you have any idea on why she would hurt you?" Coulson asks. Tony looks up as if to say something then stays quiet.

"I don't know" Pepper says, Tony clears his throat

"Back at the dock after the attack, she said that Pepper was behind it" Pepper frowns looking at Tony, who gulps

"She said you worked with Killian" Tony says hesitantly, applying the burn lotion to her arms.

"Apart of the Extremis stages is delusions, which she would be objected to, leaving her to believe I was working with Killian" Pepper says, Nat tilts her head

"How would you know the stages of Extremis?" The red head asks, Tony looks at Pepper curious. Pepper looks at her hands

"When I was captured by Killian, he told me his plans, how everything worked including Extremis" Pepper says 

"NAT" Clint yells from the hallway making all heads turn to the direction, Clint comes running to the assassin 

"Its happening again, she is having an episode" He says sharing a worried look with Coulson who nods. Maria quickly walks with Clint and Nat back to Y/n's room.

"Episode?" Tony asks Coulson sighs running a hand over her face

"Y/n suffers PTSD from her childhood, and no doubt this mission caused a stir and nightmares to come flooding back" Coulson says before walking in front of Pepper.

"Ms Potts, are you telling us you had no part in the Mandarin escapade? So what happened when they took you?" Coulson asks, his softness has changed to more cold and straight to the point. Pepper looks to Tony for comfort, whilst the man's mind swirls with guilt for making Y/n deal with him during his Panic attacks and when he could clearly see her uncomfortable he didn't bring it up or try to fix it.

"Um, when they took me they chained me up and beat me, asking for insight on Tony Stark and SHIELD" she says holding on to Tony tightly, Tony looks down at their entwined hands before lookup at her face

"When I found you, you weren't locked up, and your hands don't show any sighs of being tied up" Tony says, dropping Pepper's hands. Coulson looks to Fury who nods.

"I uh, Killian let me go before the explosion so that I uh"

"Y/n's right isn't she? you worked with him?" Tony says angry, pushing Pepper off of him softly, still cautious of her arms. She shakes her head, reaching out to him, but he stands and paces the room.
