RING RING
Ignoring the pestering repetition of my ringtone, I grab the remote of the tv and turn the volume up, and sink further into my bed curling my legs up underneath me. It's been about three weeks? A month? Since I was suspended.. since he..
When the phone finally stops ringing I pick it up and glance at the piling notifications over the past weeks.
10 missed calls from Maria
49 missed calls and 20 text messages from Nat
36 missed calls and 10 text messages from Clint
3 missed calls from Fury
12 missed calls from Stark
5 missed calls from Grant Ward
And a new missed call from an unknown number, clearing the notifications I turn my phone off and throw it onto the floor and turn my attention back to my tv, where I am watching (favourite tv show).
When the episode ends, I look around my room, noticing the amount of take out laying everywhere, joined with the piles of dirty clothes and probably cleaned clothes too. Sighing I fold my blankets back and get out of my bed and walk toward the kitchen ignoring my appearance in the mirror as I pass it.
Turning on the coffee machine I grab a clean-ish mug and set it aside on the counter, turning I lean my back on the opposing island bench and stare at the machine, thinking it will go faster the more I stare at it.
My dream was crushes as a knock came from my front door, checking the time I frown. I didn't order anything yet. Folding my arms over my chest, I wait for the knocking to stop and for the person to hopefully leave.
"Hill I know you're there open up" I frown squeezing my arms closer against my chest. "I will wait for you to open the door! Pre-warning my patience is limited" he continues. Shifting I move to pour coffee from the machine as its electronic beep signifies its completion. Ignoring the laugh from behind the door as they confirm I am here and take a sip from the coffee, feeling instantly more awake and able to deal with the current situation.
"You know its polite to offer your guests a coffee too" he snarks. Scoffing I walk toward the door and lean my back against it. "Would not qualify you as a guest"
"Indeed! I think my qualifications surpass that". Taking another sip from my coffee I silently plan my messages to Nat for sending him here.
"Like everyone else who knocks on my door, Please Leave" I say bitterly. He chuckles. "Y/n it's about SHIELD" he says, I freeze moving away from the door and place my now empty cup on the side table next to the door. "Last I check I was suspended, SHIELD doesn't concern me anymore"
"Which is why I can trust you" he says, tilting my head I open the door partly, with the lock still attached I take stock of him.
"Nick what do you want from me" I say, ignoring how his eyes sweep over my appearance. "I need your help" he says. I shake my head, blowing hair out of my face. "No can do, I am off the clock" I say going to shut the door before he grabs it. I glare but then see his softer look and sigh unlocking the door fully and allow him to come inside.
"Excuse the mess... I wasn't expecting anyone" I mutter as I walk further into my apartment. "Jesus have you left the apartment?" He scrutinises. I shrug "Haven't needed to.. but why do you need me?" I ask. He checks his watch then looks at me.
"I suspect SHIELDs has been compromised" he says I laugh abruptly, the first time I have laughed in days. I compose myself after I notice the unimpressed look he gives me. "Wait- you are being serious? This isn't a joke... a ploy to get me back in action?" I ask he frowns. I stand up and start pacing
"What?! How?- When?" I ask turning to look at him. He scrunches his face up as he spots an old slice of pizza sitting on my dining table. Clicking my fingers at him I regain his focus. "I don't know the full details but I know something is wrong, its-- can you please get yourself organised I can't talk to you when your rocking dreads and mixed matched pyjamas" Rolling my eyes I tuck my 'dreads' behind my ear and take a pen and quickly find a piece of paper and scribble down a location and a time
"Meet me there, we will talk there. If you know what is, compromised then" I point to my ears and then point all around the room. " Is compromised too, as they did help me get this place" I reason. He nods impressed then takes the piece of paper and leaves the room. Turning back, before closing the door. "Don't tell anyone, I don't know who I can trust. Also there is a new suit for you" he says kicking a box inside my apartment. I nod closing the door behind him.
Sliding to the floor I rub my face with my hands and look down to the box next to me, pulling in to my lap I open it and smile softly, a new the stealth suit, with a note
We miss you, also I know you hated how unprotected these suits are so I go Starks input call me please!
- Nat
Almost grinning, I close the box and pick it up, carrying it with me as I enter my bedroom and begin getting myself ready; whilst listening to the voicemails left by everyone I ignored.

"Your Late"
"No you're early, I am on time" I say sliding into booth, the seat opposite Fury. "Why here?" He asks. I shrug "Good coffee, plus the place is 100% bug free and the owner owes me" I say, he grins lightly before sliding me a file. I open it, shutting it quickly and smirk. "Wow quite a detailed espionage Captain" I mock, he furrows his look pointedly, I sigh "Fine, but I have a better plan... no offence" He quirks a brow, to which I smirk and pull out my phone and calling someone
"Reconsider our offer?" He asks answering the phone. I hum looking down at the file, then at Fury who is confused but amused. "Grant Ward, let the STRIKE team know, I would be delighted to work with them" I say, Fury nods agreeing with my plan. Hearing the coyness in Wards reply I hang up the phone and cross my arms against my chest.
"When did they offer you a job?" he asks, I shrug "Lost track after the 5th time" I shrug he chuckles. "Are you alright?" he asks completely changing tone. I force a smile, "Peachy, but- would be nice if you could tell Nat and Clint to stop blowing up my phone" I say he looks down. "I will see what I can do, but don't forget you start Monday" he says getting up and walking out of the coffee store. I stuff the file in my jacket and leave the store shortly afterwards driving back to my apartment and dumping my file and then leaving the gym and shooting range.
Which Fury has given me directions to a secluded/hidden base with both facilities and where no one will know I am back in the field.
A/n: So we are starting Captain America: Winter Solider, thoughts?
