Tris POV

Wednesday

School goes by in a flash on Wednesday and soon enough, I'm with Tori, setting up for tryouts. Tobias is on the field for football because he can practice with them for an hour then come to tryouts.

It's almost time for people to start showing up, so Tori and I sit down and talk.

"Here's your clipboard with all the girls. I'll give Tobias his when he comes over." She says.

"Amar is gonna freak. Did you hear about what he said on Monday?" I ask.

"Ah, yes. Christina told me all about it. Poor kid." She says.

People start showing up and sitting on the bleachers. There's a lot of freshmen and sophomores with a couple juniors. After junior year you can't join a sport anymore so all the seniors are fine. Thankfully Nita didn't show up.

When the clock strikes, Tori blows a whistle. Everyone walks down and stands in a circle.

"Welcome to tryouts everyone! We held them early this year because we are going to nationals!" Tori says.

Everyone looks around confused.

"My name is Tori, and this is Tris." Tori says. "We're just waiting for Four."

"Tobias Eaton, don't you dare!" Amar shouts.

"You're the one that wanted me to do track!" Tobias shouts back. He suddenly appears at my side with a scowl on his face.

"Meet Four." Tori says.

"Tris is currently holding the state record in the 1600 meter and the 400 m for girls, while Four is holding the boys state record for the 200 meter and 100 meter." Tori explains. "Some of you may already know him as the high school quarterback, but here, he will be one of your captains. Tris is the other captain."

Tobias starts taking his pads off and putting them by his bag. Underneath his layers, he's wearing a track shirt from last year and shorts. I'm wearing an old track tank top and tight shorts.

Tori steps aside and motions for Tobias and I to talk.

"Tris and Four are mostly going to be in charge so don't ask for my help." Tori says.

"Thanks Tori," I say, sarcastically.

"As Tori was saying, we're your captains. Our goal today is to find out your strongest point in where we will train you. Our job is to train you to your breaking point." Tobias says, using his deep, scary Four voice.

Before I can start talking, Amar storms over and grabs Tobias's arm.

"I'm busy." Tobias says.

"Nope, we're running offense drills, you're needed." He says.

"Amar, you need to let Tobias do what he has to do. You're not his dad and you need him to have freedom. He'll be fine." Tori says, dragging Amar away from Tobias.

"Wait is your name Four, or Tobias?" Someone asks.

"Tobias is my real name, but you will call me Four." He says.

"Ok, in order to get you guys warm, just jog a lap around the track." I say. "After that, we'll take attendance and possibly split you guys up."

All 30 kids get on the track and start running. Some kids are sprinting, while others are doing a light jog. They're not impressing us right now.
