Jan's POV~

The others seemed pretty excited when i told them we'd be giong to New York. Everyone, but me.

What if it was a trap? My microchip could be controling the voice, and the more i thought about it--the more that seemed legit.

After a rousing breakfast of the definitaly-not-3,000 calorie scraps i'd managed to slip to m pockets, we took off--one-by-one.

i lead out party of 7 full of nervousness. The wind felt so cool on my face, which calmed me down, though.

Smiling, i tilted my face up so could feel every bit of the breeze.

"Nothing like it, huh?" Liam flew up beside me.

"Nothing at all" i agreed.

"Are you glad we were grafted to fly?"

"In general--nobut if you mean, amd i glad we were 'scientific successes' instead of our dinner, which i think was failed science experiment soup, then yeah."

"Motermouth" he muttered.

i would've pushed him, but that would've been dangerous flying, si i flew foward.

Trust me--being leader ain't easy. i, mean, i was either y'know like leading us to death, or victory. i could never-ever have a job bigger than this.

But you do.

Darn voice...i winced as i felt a pang in my ehad.

What's my freaking job?! i yelled in my head.

Not that i'd overy my voice, of 'course.

Though i had so far...

You have to save the world.

OK, that was a million laughs! And i would've laughed, except my head felt like it's just been burst open.

Everything went al blurry, but i saw he ground rushing closer and closer.

i tried flapping my wings, but couldn't.

This was it.

Suddenly, i was jerked up--making the world spin even more.
