I'm the Voice

Jan's POV~

The next day we al stood by the ocean in our swimsuits.

Harry and Niall were building a sand castle, Liam and Zayn were on a blanket reading, Gwen and Louis were splashing in the water, John and Dr. Ruiz were in the caves, and I was standing alone on the beach.

Lily walked around. "jannice?"

I went over to her and put a hand on her shoulder. "Yeah?"

"I need to tell you something" she gazed at my ear. "I...I need to admit something"

"What is it?" I asked.

"I'm your voice..."

"What?"

"It's true. The voice inside your head? It was me. It was always me."

"It sounded nothing like you" I argued.

"I know. It's a power. I don't have to sound like me"

"Why didn't you tell me?"

She looked away. "I was scared. I get visions of our next step, and I knew you wouldn't take me seriously. Or John. He gave me MY voice in my head. He GAVE me MOST of my visions. I know what to do, where to go, and I wanted you to be the leader.

"I don't understand..."

"The first time you heard the voice" she went on. "Was the day we escaped. I'd discovered my skills that day. So I told you to eat the soup. Jannice..."

"What?" I was confused more than words could express.

"I was created to guide you" her pale eyes twinkled. "That's my purpose. Just like Liam was created to support you, and the others were created to help you. YOU weren't created to save the world..."

"WHAT?!" I cried. "You lead me on a fool's errand?!"

"You were created to protect us-and by us, I mean Niall, Louis, Harry, Gwen, John, Dr. Ruiz...and me"

"Not me? Not LIAM?"

"I said Liam was going to die" she pressed on. "And he did, but he hasn't"

"What?"

"You were created to save your world" she looked like an angel right now-without wings. "What's your world?"

"You're my world" I took her hand. "The flock's my world. Liam's my world..."

"Liam was also created to save" she said. "The Captain always goes down with the ship..."

"I won't let him die" I stated.

"You can't" she walked away.

You can't the Voice repeated.

So it was Lily all along...

She must really love me, and that's not sarcasm.

I looked over at liam. He looked so happy-siting with Zayn laughing.

He laughed now...

Zayn looked happy, too. He was chuckling and running his hand through his dark hair.

Harry, Lily, and Niall were grinning and adding shells to the awesome sand castle, and Louis and Gwen were laughing so hard as Lou tried to kiss her.

He's found a girl. Harry found a girl. we were all safe here until the world ended, atleast, which I could save them from. So if I saved them, I saved MY world.

I could do this. It's all I could do before I retired.

Retired.

The barcodes!

"Liam!" I turned to him, but he was gone.

"He went up to your treehouse" Zayn explained.

"Zayn" I fell to the blanket. "Is there a barcode on the back of my neck? Is my expiration date there?"

"Gosh...yes..."

I hugged him tightly, and he hugged back.

Harry jumped up. "I see something! It's big and orange!"
