As it turned out, Qiu Ling's thoughts had been too beautiful. The woman had merely said that she had found the objects left behind and would bring them over, but she actually hadn't told him just what she had found.
When they finally arrived at the respective section of the treasury, the dragon king was in for a rude awakening. He pointed at the small knickknacks that were displayed on the shelf and turned to the woman with a confused expression. "This is ...?"
She didn't miss a beat and happily explained with a smile. "There are all the things that are left behind by the previous Longjun. Most of these should be personal objects, but a few were used for refinement."
Qiu Ling took a closer look and finally indeed spotted some pieces of refinement equipment. For example, there was a small knife with an intricately carved handle that he remembered having seen in Jinde's hands when he was young. It seemed that he had been using it to cut the herbs in his garden. Then, there was also a small mortar with a pestle that was used to grind ingredients. There was no furnace or cauldron or any of those big things needed for refinement though. To say that he was a bit disappointed definitely wasn't wrong. "Well, do you know what happened with the other things?"
At that, the woman seemed unsure how to explain. "Well, they were usually taken out at some time."
"Do you know where they went?" Because he didn't necessarily mind chasing after things but he would need to know where to chase them to do so. "For example, what about his furnace?" He might not know much about refinement but furnaces were usually pretty important. This was one of the things that he would definitely want to get for Jinde.
"I believe it was given to the God of Medicine so it should be at the Temple of Medicine in the Nine Heavens right now."
Qiu Ling blinked, feeling that he probably shouldn't be too surprised. Right now, in the dragon realm, there was nobody who had Jinde's level of skill. The person that came closest to him was definitely that God of Medicine. And since they were allies, it wasn't strange to have given it to him.
But then, that put him in a bit of a bind. After all, he couldn't just go and ask for the furnace and then take it back here, could he? Surely, if he tried that, the God of Medicine would at least ask for an explanation. And this was something that couldn't be given. At the very least, he couldn't say the truth and he didn't think that anything less than that would be enough to convince the God of Medicine.
He clicked his tongue and couldn't help but ponder. "Well, these things, I will borrow them for a while." He didn't wait for her to say anything and just grabbed what he knew to be needed for refinement, carefully putting it onto the table in his spatial ring. Then, he turned back to her. "Seeing as the rest isn't available anymore, I'm still missing some things that will be needed for the refinement. Do we have anything else in the treasury that can be used instead? The higher the quality, the better."
The woman looked at him with surprise. "This ... I'd have to check."
Qiu Ling slowly inclined his head. "Then please do me the favor of doing so."
She nodded and then rushed back to the small chamber with the jades, once again going through them.
Qiu Ling rubbed his brow, feeling that he probably should've made this clear from the very beginning.
Jing Yi couldn't help but give him a worried look. "What do we do if they don't have everything?"
Qiu Ling shook his head. "No, there should be enough things. Otherwise, let's go and take a look around the capital city. There are also stores for these things. We'll just get the highest grade of everything we still need and bring them back to Jinde. Maybe he can use it. If not ... Well, I guess I'll have to go and ask for a favor in the Nine Heavens." Or maybe, he'd just sneak in and steal things. It wasn't like he hadn't done such things before so that was also a possibility. Not the best one but a possibility nonetheless.
This time, the woman came back earlier since she didn't need to look for something that was that difficult to locate. She hastily led Qiu Ling and Jing Yi to a few spots throughout the treasury, showing him several furnaces, and other refinement equipment.
Qiu Ling nodded slowly and then grabbed everything one by one, making the woman's expression turn a little startled.
When they had reached the last one, he couldn't help but raise his brows at her. "Is there a problem with me taking these things?" He was the king so this was basically his treasury. If he wanted something, he should be allowed to take it but considering that he was on a good way to become a better king again, he figured he should at least ask to make sure.
She hastily shook her head, not daring to say anything bad to the king. Although, she did have her thought about him just taking these things out this casually.
Qiu Ling smiled faintly and shook his head at her, clearly noticing her internal struggles. "Don't worry, I'm just borrowing them and I'm taking a bit more since refinement isn't my strong suit so I'll have the refiner look them over first. I'll immediately bring back what we don't need and as for the rest, after it's been used, they will also be returned here." Well, minus one set maybe because he didn't think that Jinde would give up his things after finally getting his hands back on them. In fact, he might be angry that his furnace had been given away. But that was something that he would deal with later on.
Having said his peace, he nodded at her, and then grabbed Jing Yi's hand again, pulling him out of the treasury. Now, he would first bring this to Jinde and then he could go and look for the ingredients that Jinde still needed. This way, they would get closer to solving the next issue step by step.
