Qiu Ling wasn't surprised at all to see Leng Jin Yu. He had woken up when Bai Mu entered the room, and Jing Yi had told him what Leng Jin Yu had said. Thus, he had expected him to come back as soon as he had found out more. The only surprising thing was how fast he had been.
Well, that, and the two people coming in behind him. Apparently, Leng Jin Yu had gotten himself some competent help while he was out. And while Qiu Ling wasn't completely sure how to feel about having the God of Justice standing in his own suite of rooms, it at least seemed like they were all working in the same direction this time.
Qiu Ling leaned back in his chair, blinking his eyes at Leng Jin Yu. Truth be told, he also wanted all of this to be over. The constant agony almost as soon as he fell asleep was driving him crazy. And he definitely didn't want to end up being a danger to both himself and the people around him. But that was where he was headed. So if there was anything they could do to make this work, he would be more than happy.
Leng Jin Yu didn't waste time with a preamble and just walked over, putting the vial of water down in front of Qiu Ling. "This is water from the River of Forgetfulness. It's what Xin Lan suggested. I guess Jing Yi will have told you about that."
Qiu Ling nodded in a daze and picked up the small vial, remembering the day when Jing He had drunk this water before going on his trial. This was what had started all of this. It might be hard to believe but it was the case. Now, it was supposed to be the solution for his problems as well?
He knew what the water did, somewhat. He wasn't quite clear on the details but he had a general idea of how it worked. Thinking about it, he realized why Xin Lan felt that this might be an option of getting through this. "Seems like a solution that will buy us some time."
Leng Jin Yu sat down next to him and inclined his head. "Yes, I'm afraid it can't be more than that. But since everyone is working on the matter already, that might be all we need. So I would go for it if I was you."
Qiu Ling raised his brows and shook the vial, giving a faint smile. "I would also do this. Do I just take it as the gods do?"
Leng Jin Yu shook his head at that. "No, otherwise, I'm afraid that all of your memories would be veiled. That isn't what we want. Instead, we will need a second person to help you with the process. I thought that ... my husband might be a good option."
Qiu Ling gave a hum at that, not too surprised about that choice. Jinde would be his go-to person as well. "Have you talked to ... your husband already?"
Leng Jin Yu shook his head. "No, I didn't. I wanted to wait until we had the water and I had spoken to you. I'll go and do that immediately though." He rose to his feet and then glanced at the God of War and the God of Justice before inclining his head toward them as well. "I will be back in just a moment."
Qiang Yan gave a hum while Li Yin just watched him leave, not saying a word.
Leng Jin Yu sighed after he closed the door behind him, feeling that this matter wasn't all that easy. He didn't doubt that Jinde would say yes but if he did, then he would have to pull him over to the other room, and the God of Justice would see him. And with how smart that guy was, he was afraid that he might figure something out. He didn't know how to feel about that.
The chance that somebody might figure out just who Jinde was had always been there. They had taken as many steps as they could in the dragon realm to ensure that that wouldn't happen. But they hadn't been able to do the same thing with the people in the Nine Heavens. And especially when it came to the titled gods, he didn't think that it was easy to hoodwink them. The danger of being discovered was pretty high. He could only hope that the God of Justice wouldn't go on to blab about it if he really realized something.
Entering his own room, Leng Jin Yu still only found Xin Lan sitting there, looking quite bored. "Are they still busy?"
Xin Lan glanced at him and gave an uninterested hum. "What about Qiu Ling? Did you talk about it already?"
Leng Jin Yu nodded while he made his way over to the other room. "Yes, just now. I went to the Nine Heavens first to get some of the water. I'm afraid I'll have to go and disturb Jinde for a bit." Turning away from Xin Lan, he faintly knocked on the door and poked his head in. "My dear, do you have a moment? It's about Qiu Ling."
Jinde raised his gaze from where he had been reading through one of the older scrolls, his expression turning worried even though he tried to hide it. "Did something happen?" These days, this was the first thought he always had if somebody brought up that stepson of his. He couldn't help it. Every time, he feared for the worst.
Leng Jin Yu faintly raised his brows, not sure how to say it. "We ... might have a temporary solution for his problem." That was probably the best answer he could give right now. "Anyway, that solution would require your help so I could only come and disturb you."
Jinde didn't even ask any further and just got up, giving Zheng Yin an apologetic smile. "I'm sorry. As you heard, it's about the king. I will have to go check on that before I come back here."
Zheng Yin also got up and inclined his head, not too bothered by this. "Of course, the king's matter should take precedence." He wasn't quite sure what this person's exact status in the dragon realm was but he had introduced himself as the substitute to one of the king's advisers so it should be pretty high. Of course, there would be important business that he would have to take care of. He couldn't just dedicate all his time to Xin Lan's matter.
Jinde nodded and left then left with his husband, leaving Xin Lan and Zheng Yin alone.
The former faintly raised his brows and then walked over to the chamber, sitting down next to Zheng Yin. He might not be able to help with his research, but at the very least, he wouldn't be sitting alone anymore. That was also quite nice.
