While all of them would've loved to immediately solve the matter, it was currently in the middle of the night. And while nobody had a problem pulling Qiang Yan, Li Yin, or Shun Tao out of their beds at such a time, it was a bit different when it came to the God of Love, Yue Xia.

Among the titled gods, he was the oldest that was still alive. He had managed to survive the war with the demons back then, even having had the command over the Palace of Love already. He wasn't just ancient, he also looked the part. Somehow, it just seemed kind of wrong to go and wake this person up when they might as well wait for a few more hours.

The Heavenly Emperor awkwardly cleared his throat. "Well, it's a good suggestion. We should give it a try. Anyway, I also liked the idea that the God of Justice proposed before. I would suggest that the two of you go and talk about those things in detail and choose the people you want to have to work together. You can take the Fate's Scribe along and see if there are some of his people that could be used for the task as well."

The three gods nodded and got up, leaving the study while An Bai still stayed behind.

Rong Su felt kind of awkward when he looked at him, not sure what to say. His relationship with Qiu Ling wasn't good so it seemed strange to talk about his matters with one of his advisers who clearly cherished his king greatly.

Bai Fen also didn't want to leave this to her husband so she made use of the opportunity first. "Scholar An Bai, I hope you don't mind if we wait a few more hours until the morning."

An Bai shook his head. "There isn't any immediate threat to His Majesty's life. I have alerted some people in the dragon realm so they can keep an eye on it after he returns. As for here, I will go and tell Xiang Yong about this matter so he can prepare.

"In any case, we've known from the very beginning that it might be difficult to find a solution. Even if we double or even triple our efforts now, I do not think that we will be able to find one immediately. We will at most be able to shorten the time."

Bai Fen sighed at that. "I wish that all of this was already over. You know, I don't wish any harm to that boy, personally. To live as a reincarnated person, we all know how it is. Usually, we wouldn't find out but if you do, then it can cause quite a bit of trouble. In his case, now that he is ascended, it is even more so, especially since he is so closely related to Jing He's life. I just wish that my son would return."

An Bai nodded. "I can understand that. To be honest, I've always admired His Highness. If he were to come back, I would be very happy about that. It is just that the situation right now ... it is hard to say whether we will be able to deal with this.

"It isn't quite clear how His Majesty would react to Zhong Jing Yi's death. I don't think he actually expects to get out of this unharmed by now. I'm not willing to give up just like that though. I will make sure that he will survive this and also not have to suffer from the curse in any other way."

Bai Fen nodded as well but she wasn't sure what to say anymore. In any case, this matter, it really wasn't easy to deal with. They all knew.

Rong Su finally cleared his throat and then got up. "Well, let's hope the God of Love will be able to shed some light on the situation. Anyway, it is the middle of the night. We should go to sleep. Tomorrow might be yet another long day."

An Bai inclined his head and got up, nodding at the Heavenly Empress as well before he bid his farewell and then turned around, going back to his own palace.

Even though he did so, he wasn't able to sleep. He went to sit down, and couldn't help but glance at the book that was still lying on the table. This was the one that Ye Yang had brought over. He picked it up and brushed over the cover, his thoughts traveling.

Ye Yang ... he did not like him. He felt that he was overbearing, even though he tried to seem charming and non-threatening. In any case, it was pretty clear what he wanted and he was just bribing him regularly to hopefully achieve his goal one day.

He wouldn't let him. It was just that if he thought about everything Ye Yang had brought him so far, this was precisely the type of person that might be able to uncover some kind of information.

Yes, maybe they who were of the younger generation wouldn't be able to come up with anything. Maybe others could though. For example, the previous Longjun. Or, maybe even better, Senior Xin Lan.

He had been born at the time when the curse had been new. Surely, back then, many things that been discovered. Maybe he would remember something that could be of help. Yes, that was something he should inquire about.

An Bai put the book down, then considered for a moment and finally put it into his spatial ring, adding it to the collection of books he always took with him before he pushed it to the back of his mind. For now, he should indeed do as the Heavenly Emperor had suggested and get a bit of sleep if he wanted to make sure that he could investigate the next day.

Although, he first needed to fill in Xiang Yong, then tell him about the idea of asking Xin Lan, and then go to the Palace of Love to see if there really was something that could be done. Ah, he felt like these days, there wasn't a single free minute.

Not that his life had been any different before. He had always put all this time into his studies. But usually, he enjoyed it. Right now though, matters were so urgent that he could not derive any pleasure from this.

No, right now, what he was doing was merely a necessity, not something he liked to do. If only they were able to finally find the answer that they needed and save both their king and His Highness from this predicament. He'd give a lot for that.
